Arrive and park in designated parking space before stepping through the door into a welcoming hallway.

A practical cloakroom with storage offers the perfect place to leave coats, walking boots and outdoor essentials before venturing further into the home.

The living/dining room provides an inviting setting for quality time together, whether that's stretching out on the sofas in front of the TV, relaxing in the armchair with a good book, or gathering around the dining table to enjoy meals and map out the adventures ahead.

When the temperature drops, the gas fire creates a welcoming atmosphere, while patio doors welcome natural light and offer views towards the garden.

The electric oven and hob make home cooking a pleasure, the dishwasher helps make light work of the cleaning, and the washer/dryer is handy for refreshing outdoor clothing after a day on the fells.

The view across the attractive rear garden from the sink adds a pleasant touch while carrying out everyday tasks.

Head upstairs to find the bright and spacious master bedroom, complete with a built-in wardrobe and plenty of room to settle in.

A single bedroom can also be found on this floor, alongside a family bathroom featuring a bath and a walk-in shower, giving guests the choice between a refreshing rinse and a relaxing soak.

Continue to the second floor to discover a twin bedroom positioned beneath a Velux window, creating a light-filled place to rest after a day of exploration.

This room is further enhanced by its own en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower.

Outside, the rear south facing garden offers a lovely spot to enjoy the fresh air, whether that's sipping a morning coffee on the patio, settling down with lunch at the outdoor furniture or unwinding with a drink as the evening draws in.

The shops and pubs can be reached with a short walk, while the nearby river offers a picturesque setting for leisurely walks.

The town itself is home to independent shops, welcoming cafés and fascinating heritage, with attractions including Wordsworth House and Garden, Cockermouth Castle and its historic streets.

Venture further into the area to experience Bassenthwaite Lake and the beautiful Skiddaw, where scenic waterside walks and impressive fell views await.

Keswick also makes an excellent day out, offering Derwentwater lake cruises, lakeside walks and performances at the Theatre by the Lake.

About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.

This property offers the following short breaks:

  • Winter
