“We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful and historic house.”

It is comfortable, spacious and a really inventive blend of ancient and modern style. The kitchen in particular provided a great focal point for family time and was very well-equipped for cooking. Needless to say, the location is fab and Braithwaite is so pretty. We fitted in several walks, visiting Borrowdale, Bassenthwaite, Cockermouth, Honister and Keswick, and kayaking from Portinscale as well as a dinner in the delightful Coledale Inn. About the location

BRAITHWAITE

Keswick 3 miles.

Between the magnificent northern lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, lies the village of Braithwaite. Still retaining much of its traditional appeal, the Coledale Beck runs through the village with whitewashed Lakeland cottages, two village shops and two real ale Inns each brimming with character! Between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw, there really is something for everyone. Visit Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the lake with an open-air theatre, or take a trip around the lake.
