“The location and the views from the property were as amazing as we'd hoped.”

Overall the property was comfortable and well equipped with good off-road parking and walks from the door. Overall the property was comfortable and well equipped with good off-road parking and walks from the door. We did notice a rather off-putting smell in the kitchen, particularly when the door had been closed. We couldn't work out where it was coming from so resorted to leaving the kitchen window open when we were in and closing the internal door. The conservatory doesn't have any ventilation (window locked and no key), there is an area of damp and the cushions on the furniture were going mouldy. The towels also smelled like they had been put away damp, but they were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The left hand side of the toaster was broken and some areas of the house needed more of a deep clean, eg, the blind in the shower room is quite grubby and the toilet brush in the loo is rusting around the top. The information folder referred to instructions for the bins being located in the kitchen which we couldn't find. Overall we did enjoy our stay and would probably return due to the excellent location.

There is a choice of three bedrooms which are complemented by a family bathroom. Windrush offers easy access to the stunning scenery of the north western Lake District with the breath-taking scenery of the beautiful Buttermere Valley a simple 15-minute drive away. It is also in easy reach of Bassenthwaite Lake (home to a family of Ospreys). For those wanting to enjoy the great outdoors there are numerous walks from the village around Borrowdale, from gentle walks through the valley to the high fells of Grizedale Pike and the Coledale Horseshoe. Those seeking thrills on two wheels will enjoy the award winning Altura Trails in Whinlatter Forest just to the north of the village. Within 5 min. walk are two Marinas with numerous water sports on offer. Accommodation in detail Windrush is located on a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of the village of Portinscale with uninterrupted views across the valley to the stunning skyline of Skiddaw, the Lake District’s fourth highest mountain. To the front of the cottage there is a pretty garden and driveway with level access to the front door of the cottage which opens to a bright hallway. The open plan lounge and dining room benefits from the beautiful views that the front of the cottage affords with comfortable sofas and armchair presented around the ever-changing scenery from the large picture window and Smart TV. The family dining table is a lovely place to relax over dinner with family and friends and french door opens from here on to the patio and lovely terraced garden with mature shrubs and trees. The shaker style kitchen is well equipped with four ring gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge & microwave. To the rear of the cottage the conservatory is a lovely place to sit and relax with a good book or the weekend papers.
