The property

Lavender Cottage is a lovely two bedroomed cottage converted from an old barn with patio garden to the front and paddock with picnic tables to the side. Being one of three delightful cottages it can be rented on its own or together with Daisy Cottage and Poppy Cottage for guests looking to holiday together but have their own accommodation. Penruddock is conveniently located just a short drive off the M6 motorway with easy access to Lake Ullswater, only seven miles away and Keswick only a fifteen minute drive. The Caldbeck fells are also within easy reach providing a quieter haven for walkers than the hustle of the Lake District. There are two pubs within one mile and Penrith, the, Gateway to the Lakes, is only ten minutes away providing a wealth of shops, bars, restaurants, cinema and much more. The cottages have been converted from a 17th century farmhouse, are light and airy, furnished and equipped to a high standard and have been converted from the original barn and retain many original features, including beams and magnificent views over the fields which circumscribe the barn. Ideally suited for those who appreciate the peace and quiet but within easy access of the many facilities close by these properties are sure to appeal to those who enjoy the great outdoors; with cycling, water sports and much more all within a few miles. Lavender Cottage is a two bedroom barn conversion which is adjacent to Daisy Cottage and has a patio/garden to the front and paddock to the side and comprises: Beamed open plan lounge/kitchen/dining room with TV and DVD player. Kitchen equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and dining table.

About the location

Keswick 11 miles; Penrith 6 miles.

The charming old village of Penruddock sits in a secluded position in the northern Lake District between Keswick and Penrith, and just four miles from Ullswater. The village is spread out amongst beautiful rolling countryside and wonderful scenery and is made up of a number of farm dwellings, traditional Lakeland homes and two churches. Penruddock originated in Celtic times, with the name derived from Pen, a Celtic name for 'hill' and 'rhuddawc' meaning red in Welsh to reflect the reddish brown colour of the soil found in the area. Nearby, the popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the north of the Lake District and has plenty to offer, boasting numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, some good parks, the Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema and the beautiful lake. Penruddock provides easy access to the spectacular surrounding Cumbrian countryside which can be explored by both car and on foot, and with the southern Lakes, Eden Valley, Solway Coast and Hadrian's Wall all within easy motoring distance this great location has plenty to see and do for all the family.
