“The cottage was warm and welcoming on arrival and appeared cosy and attractive inside.”
It also seemed pretty clean, given that this is pet-friendly accommodation. The facilities seemed OK, aside from the feeble shower. Overall, it would have been a perfectly enjoyable stay, but with the one major drawback of the bed in the double room.
Sadly, our 4-night stay was spoiled by broken sleep and physical discomfort thanks to the hard, thin and apparently rather poor quality mattress. I managed to make it just about tolerable by padding the mattress using the fleece blanket and the duvet, and borrowed another duvet to sleep under from a relative who lives locally. The mattresses in the twin room didn't seem to be much better, being rather worn with clunking springs, but fortunately this didn't bother our young children.
Considering the cost of our stay, this was a far from satisfactory experience. Please invest in some decent beds, it would make a world of difference.
Apologies. I will certainly look at the mattress. I think this is the first complaint I have received about it and have not had a problem myself, but will look into it.
