The property

Set in the peaceful hamlet of Ayside, in the southern Lake District, Low House Cottage is a characterful three-bedroom retreat that beautifully blends traditional features with a thoughtfully renovated contemporary interior.

Guests arrive via a private parking area with space for two cars comfortably, or three with careful parking, from here, steps lead to the rear entrance and utility/boot room.

At the heart of the cottage is a spacious kitchen and dining room, thoughtfully equipped for both everyday meals and special occasions, facilities include an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, wine cooler and Quooker boiling-water tap.

In warmer months, bifold doors can be opened to connect the space with the outdoors, the adjoining utility room provides a washing machine and tumble dryer for added convenience.

There are two inviting spaces in which to relax, the cosy snug, complete with a log burner, is perfect for unwinding after a day on the fells, while the comfortable main sitting room offers a Smart TV and a bright, spacious atmosphere.

A second set of bifold doors opens onto a small patio, where views extend towards the neighbouring working farm and surrounding countryside.

Upstairs, there are three well-presented bedrooms, the principal king-size bedroom benefits from an en-suite shower room, while the second bedroom can be arranged as either a king-size or twin room upon request, a third bedroom provides additional comfortable accommodation, these rooms are served by a family bathroom with a bath and shower, while a separate WC is located on the ground floor.

Outside, the garden and patio provide a lovely spot to sit back and enjoy the rural setting, one small, well-behaved dog is welcome to join you during your stay.

Yew Tree Barn at Low Newton is just a short drive away, combining architectural antiques and interiors with Harry’s Café, a delightful spot for coffee, brunch or lunch.

Nearby High Newton is home to Heft, an acclaimed restaurant showcasing the best of Cumbria’s local produce.

The charming village of Cartmel is also within easy reach, renowned for its historic Priory, independent shops, welcoming pubs and exceptional dining scene, from relaxed cafés and traditional inns to Simon Rogan’s celebrated venues, including Rogan & Co, Pig & Whistle and the three-Michelin-starred L’Enclume, there is something to suit every occasion.

Take a short trip to Grange-over-Sands, which offers a promenade and a quieter pace of life.

Newby Bridge and Fell Foot are all conveniently close by, providing easy access to the southern shores of Lake Windermere.

Lakeside is also within comfortable reach, where visitors can enjoy Windermere cruises, the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway and the Lakes Aquarium.

The small village of Newby Bridge takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Visit the Lakeside Hotels and enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally themed habitats, bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, plus the picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and admire the views at nearby Gummer's How.
