The property

Yewbarrow is a welcoming semi-detached cottage resting in the village of Gosforth in Cumbria, offering sleeping space for four guests and excellent access to both the Lake District National Park and the Cumbrian coastline.

Once the owners’ home and named in honour of the first mountain they climbed together, this characterful retreat sits within easy reach of Wast Water, Wasdale Fell and Scafell Pike.

Begin your stay by stepping into the porch, ideal for leaving boots and jackets, before moving into the inviting living/dining room.

This social space features cushioned seating positioned around a woodburning stove and TV, with an oak dining table set behind for relaxed mealtimes after days exploring the fells.

The kitchen is bright and well laid out, complete with green tiling, an AGA range and a selection of appliances for preparing hearty dishes.

Upstairs are two thoughtfully presented bedrooms: a super-king-size with zip/link flexibility and a king-size room, both offering useful storage.

The first-floor bathroom provides a bath with an electric shower over, while a nearby drying cupboard is ideal for outdoor gear and laundry.

Stable doors lead out to the enclosed garden, where two seating areas provide great spaces for al fresco dining while children and dogs enjoy the lawned area.

Gosforth provides welcoming inns, while Seascale is close by for a shop, cafes, beach days, golf, and wildlife spotting at Drigg Sand Dunes.

Further along the coast, Whitehaven invites you to explore its marina, museums and historic landmarks.

The surrounding national park provides opportunities for climbing Scafell Pike, paddling on Wast Water, or exploring Grizedale’s woodland trails.

St Bees, Wasdale and Eskdale also offer memorable days out.

With so much to discover across this remarkable region, Yewbarrow offers a superb base for a Cumbrian getaway.
