Brigg House is a distinctive detached farmhouse set on the edge of Ulpha near Eskdale Green, surrounded by the scenic landscapes of the southern Lake District.

Well-equipped throughout, it provides an excellent retreat for families and groups of friends looking for a secluded base in this picturesque region.

The kitchen is thoughtfully fitted with a gas oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher, making both cooking and clearing up straightforward.

From here, step onto the flagstone flooring leading into the inviting living room, where exposed beams, a corner sofa, and a woodburning stove create a welcoming space to relax in the evening.

Enjoy meals together in the dining room, perhaps accompanied by a glass of fizz while planning your next outing.

Upstairs, you’ll find three well-presented bedrooms, comprising two doubles and a twin, all served by an impressive family bathroom.

Outside, generous lawned grounds provide plenty of space for dogs to roam, and a variety of scenic walks can be accessed directly from the doorstep.

The nearby village of Eskdale Green offers a convenience store and a local pub, perfect for picking up essentials or enjoying a drink.

For outdoor enthusiasts, there are walks at Walna Scar and the Coniston Range, including the well-known Old Man of Coniston, along with welcoming spots like the Blacksmith Arms for food and refreshments.

Further afield, Broughton-in-Furness offers a wider selection of amenities, including pubs, cafés, a butchers, grocers, petrol station, and a second-hand bookshop.

Ulverston is also within reach, known for the Laurel and Hardy Museum, Stan Laurel’s birthplace, and its popular golf club overlooking Morecambe Bay.

In addition, Coniston Water provides a scenic setting for activities such as kayaking and canoeing, or a more leisurely experience aboard the National Trust’s Gondola.

With so much to explore nearby, a stay at Brigg House can be tailored to suit both relaxed breaks and activity-filled adventures.

About the location

ESKDALE GREEN

Coniston 10 miles.

The small village of Eskdale Green sits amongst beautiful Lakeland countryside and consists of a scattering of cottages, some farm dwellings and a number of outstanding traditional English pubs serving good food. An area relatively unknown to many Lakeland visitors, this great location boasts a skyline dominated by the towering peaks of Scafell - England's highest peak, as well as Great Gable, Hard Knott, Harter Fell and Muncaster Fell, whilst the nearby stunning valleys of Eskdale, Wasdale, Ennerdale and Dunnerdale provide breathtaking and ever-changing scenery to be enjoyed throughout the year. The valley is notable as being one of few major valleys in the Lake District not to have its own lake, although several tarns are perched above the valley sides. Local attractions include Muncaster Castle, the World Owl Centre and the Ravenglass to Eskdale miniature railway, one of the most beautiful train journeys imaginable. With both beautiful Wastwater - the deepest lake in the country and St Olaf's - the smallest church, amongst the many well known landmarks in this awe inspiring and beautiful area also within easy reach, this stunning location will have visitors returning time and time again.
