This pretty Lakeland cottage has an idyllic setting away from the hustle and bustle of the beautiful village of Grasmere. Set alongside the River Rothay and centrally positioned in the beautiful Lake District, historic Grasmere with its ancient church is just a few minutes stroll away. The village and scenery inspired many artists and poets including William Wordsworth and later helped spark the birth of the National Trust. You can stay in and relax or get out and explore. Walks of all kinds start straight from the front door. Leave the car behind and wander into the village, amble along the riverside or lakeshore, or put on your boots for famous fell rambles and high-level mountain routes. Accommodation The front door opens to the porch where you enter the cosy and welcoming lounge has a sofa and armchairs which are seated around a characterful stone fireplace with an electric effect log burner, making this a lovely room to sit and relax whatever the time of day and the ideal spot to sit and relax with friends and family. The open plan kitchen / dining area is well appointed with fitted units, electric hob and oven, fridge, freezer and microwave. The family, farmhouse style, dining table is a real focal point to gather over breakfast or to socialise over diner. Off the kitchen is a utility room which houses the fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer. There is a handy drying cupboard for that very important walking gear. Also at the rear of the property there is plenty of room to hang coats and store walking boots. Choose from three bedrooms, the first is off the lounge and is a double room with en suite shower room. The second, also a double room has a large en suite shower room with basin and wc. The third bedroom another double, benefits from access to an adjacent bathroom presented with a bath with shower over, basin and WC. This can also be accessed form the dining area if required. Stepping back outside, the cottage has a patio to the front of the property to take advantage of the views. Ideal for BBQs or picnics, morning coffee or an evening drink! Private parking is available for two cars. Location This Grasmere holiday home offers a superb location for exploring historic Grasmere, walking in the Lake District or simply relaxing and enjoying the views at home. Lakeland fells leading up to Easedale Tarn, famous Lake District walks such as Silver How, Helm Crag and the impressive Fairfield Horseshoe are just a few of the routes to tempt you here. Grasmere itself is a wonderful base for a self-catering Lake District holiday. Peaceful and picturesque, the village is steeped with artistic history and famous worldwide as the former home of poet William Wordsworth - whose home can be visited at Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum. There are several watercolour galleries in the village, displaying the work of locally-inspired painters. The Heaton Cooper Studio is definitely worth a visit. If you're looking for a tasty souvenir, step back in time at the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop. For a special evening out, you'll find endless choice of excellent country pubs in the surrounding area as well as the Good Food Guide-listed Jumble Room restaurant in the village centre. Grasmere village is well-placed for visiting many of the Lake District's other highlights. The A591 leads south past tranquil Rydal Water to Ambleside, on the northern shores of Lake Windermere. There you'll find the Lake District's most cosmopolitan village - alive with shops, cafes and restaurants and only a stroll from Windermere Lake Cruises at Waterhead Pier. Follow the A591 north to Keswick and Derwent Water, or branch off into the Langdale Valley.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
