“Lovely apartment which is well equipped and a good location.”

Only problem was that iit was cold on arrival and took a while to heat up. I would have liked more info about refuse/recycling and TV etc.

This attractive ground floor apartment is all on one level and is very comfortably furnished making it the perfect retreat to relax and unwind. The property is set in mature, communal gardens, with a delightful patio area just a few steps from the lounge, making it the ideal spot to enjoy a morning coffee or a pre-dinner drink. Conveniently situated in a peaceful location only a short walk from shops and restaurants in the centre of the popular village of Ambleside. Within easy walking distance of Waterhead Pier at the north of Lake Windermere, from where steamers regularly depart to Bowness and Lakeside. For those who enjoy the great outdoors, a plethora of walks depart from Ambleside; enjoy the lakeshore walk along Rydal Water and Grasmere, the popular hike up Loughrigg Fell or, for those who enjoy the high fells, the spectacular Fairfield Horseshoe can be completed directly from the door. Come and go as you please, with no parking struggles at the end of the day. A great base at any time of year. == Accommodation in detail Ambleside Haven is located on the ground floor and guests have use of private parking for 1 car. Access to communal gardens which is shared with other properties in the development. Entrance to a communal hallway with secure telephone entry system. Private internal entrance to a hallway with cloaks cupboard and space for walking gear. Comfortable lounge with dining area for four, deep-cushioned furnishings and smart TV/DVD. Location Ambleside is easily found at the north end of Lake Windermere, via the famously scenic A591 road. The A591 is the main route into the heart of the Lakes, so touring by car is a breeze. Ambleside village is as much a place to embrace Lakeland village life as it is a base for exploring and walking in the Lake District. With a backdrop of lake shore and breathtaking Lakeland Fells, it's a wonderful base for a Lake District holiday even if you don't plan to stray too far from your base. The village is steeped with history, scattered with attractive traditional Lake District cottages, and the contemporary shopping streets remain a delight to explore. Sample excellent cafes and acclaimed Lake District restaurants such as The Glass House, and stock up the kitchen or pick up a picnic at one of the excellent delis, such as the renowned Lucy's of Ambleside. Ambleside also has two quirky cinemas; Zeffirellis Cinema, Pizzeria and Jazz Bar, and Fellinis Vegetarian Restaurant and Studio Cinema. Historic attractions include the much photographed 'Bridge House', which has to be seen to be believed, and the Roman for Galava just outside the village centre. William Wordsworth's former family home can be visited close by at Rydal Mount & Gardens - a must during your stay. If you are a Wordsworth fan, remember that Grasmere (his home during his most renowned years of work) is only a short drive north on the A591.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
