The accommodation was very good and a great location.

It is only suitable for two people but that was more than fine for us and everything on the listing per website was accurate.

The position of the cottage in Hawkshead was ideal for us, and made the holiday more enjoyable.

It was good to have a parking spot although quite tight with 3 vehicles in the same area but we managed. The outside seating space was used by us due to the nice weather. The cottage was very clean. However, from previous comments included in the visitor book, the toilet flush and the shower haven't been addressed. We cooked on two evenings and found the whole process more difficult than it should be ie the pictures on the oven knob have partially rubbed off and the hob is temperamental to use. It's not a luxurious stay ie the towels are minimal size, there isn't even a tissue box and no shower gel is provided. It would be useful to have somewhere to hang a coat. We were lucky that the weather was so good for us and drying space wasn't needed. Overall, the location, parking and cleanliness make this cottage a good place to stay.

I've stayed here before; great apartment, value and location.

Worked almost perfectly for two male mates on an electric mountain biking break.

Beds comfy, property in generally good order, patios for post-ride beers, good catering facilities but equally handy to walk to a choice of eating establishments. The parking space was tight but located next to property so we could feed cables through the kitchen window to charge the bikes mounted on the car rack. Decent TV for the World Cup & Wimbledon. Couple of things missing somewhat annoyingly - we had to open bottles with pliers and buy screw top wine as the bottle opener/corkscrew was missing. The oven markings on the controls have been worn off and there was no instructions so a bit of guesswork involved. But overall worked well for us.

My friend and I had a lovely getaway we’ve been coming to Hawkeshead for 20 years with our husbands The cottage was perfect for the two of us well equipped except there was no bottle opener for the wine and beer and the bath towels were a little on the small side but we had a relaxing time cocktails on the patio fab Thank You

Initialy everything seemed perfect but we found the hob and the oven difficult to opperate as there were no instructions.

The ( storage) heating had been programmed but hardly ever came on . The instructions were for a remote controll that didnt exist. We informed Sykes and the owner came with a fan heater. It was well stocked except for only 3 tumblers and one of them was chipped. The accomodation was in a great location. The furnishings were of a good standard. Though on a busy road there was no noise.

ON ARRIVING AT BETTYS MEWS FIRST IMPRESIONS WAS THE TOP RATE CLEANLINESS OF THE ROOMS AND EQUIPMENT.

PARKING SPOT WAS A GREAT BONUS,--BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW HOW DIFFICULT IT CAN BE TO FIND PARKING IN THE LAKE DISTRICT. MY WIFE,-JUNE,-WAS GREATLY IMPRESSED WITH THE SINGLE BED,--BEST SLEEPS SHE HAD FOR A LONG TIME.THE LOCATION SUITED US FOR THE VARIOUS PLACES TO VISIT,--SUCH AS,-GRIZEDALE FOREST,- CONISTON, AMBLESIDE,-BOWNESS, AND MORE, MANY THANKS, FOR MAKING OUR 7 NIGHT STAY AT BETTYS MEWS VERY RESTFULL AND ENJOYFULL.

Enjoyed our 4 night break at Betty's Mews.

We found it warm and cosy ( loved the reclining sofa ) We had 3 parking spots as the other two cottages where unoccupied.I appreciate it would be a problem if two more cars had appeared.Having said all that we used our bus pass to get around; good that the bus stop was only 200 yards away. We would certainly recommend Betty's Mews it has everything going for it

Beautiful village of Hawkshead on your doorstep. Both properties are very comfortable and welcoming. Thoroughly recommended!!

A clean, central location to visiting the Lake District.

The beds were comfy. The kitchen was well equipped with cutlery and utensils. Hawkshead itself was lovely, especially the Kings Arms. Unfortunately, due to the weather (Storm Amy) there was a problem with the T.V. signal. We were also disappointed with the lack of tea/coffee when we arrived, especially as we had travelled over 5hrs to get there in awful weather conditions!!!

Excellent accommodation & spotlessly clean & fresh, only downsides were the WiFi could not be found and parking the car was a problem, I had to reverse in then pull outside the window to get in and out of the car, this said for the price and location was excellent.

Loved the quiet peaceful break.

However a few little things: Freezer needed defrosting was difficult to open drawers. One big mug had a long crack down the inside of it. I left it on the window sill. Kitchen blinds needed a wipe over after our stay. Car park space was too narrow for SUV, parked Infront of the space. Otherwise gorgeous place, would definitely go back! xx

B etty's Mews was a good quality cottage, well appointed and maintained .

As 2 80+'s my wife and I had NO clue how to work the Electric Hob .A brief handwritten note as a guide,would have suficed. Also a shower mat is a must as like most shower base's it is very slippy. Just one further point,having the micro--wave at above head high would send most health and safety officers into meltdown!! All in all tho' we did enjoy our stay and would not rule out a return.Bill and Dot Johnson..

Confortable and very handy for Hawkshead village amenities

This is the fourth or fifth time we have stayed at this property and will be booking again.

We have also stayed at, and have already booked Betty’s loft above Betty’s Mews and this is the same high standard.

Very happy with this little clean, tidy cottage with parking.

Quiet yet ease of travel to Grizedale and town. Highly recommend and would stay again.

Comfortable and warm property , ideally situated for the centre of Hawkshead and shops.

The bus service is very convenient .We parked the car on arrival and did not use it until departure. A very enjoyable stay.

Lovely accommodation clean,tidy, comfortable and well kept property.

Ideally located for exploring the central lakes. A short walk from the centre of Hawkshead it's shops, pub and restaurants. We would highly recommend this

This is a lovely, clean, comfortable, well equipped cottage with good wi fi connection.

However we felt that the provision of a slip mat in the shower tray and grab handle on the wall of the shower cubicle would be beneficial. The cottage is within 5 minutes walking distance from the centre of Hawkshead and is ideally situated for exploring this part of the Lake District.

All very nice, we had to guess the temperature and symbols on the oven, must admit parking a large car is difficult, I have to say that we did sleep very well.

Nothing serious to complain about.

As stated by others, parking spot a little small, but hey it's free. Other issue is the fact no access from the back of the property, so you have to take everything around the front when unloading. We had a nice stay.

A lovely cottage, with all the facilities you might need for a break away from home.

A little patio with seating allows for relaxing in the evening sun, listening to the birds singing Ideally situated as a central base to discovering different areas of interest in the Lake District. Walks from the doorstep, or a short drive to Ambleside, Grasmere, Windermere, Keswick about 30 mins?

Lovely cosy cottage with plenty of equipment for your holiday needs.

An ideal base being just a few minutes drive from Ambleside & close to so many other locations. An added advantage is that there are a number of signed walks from the cottage & local shops offer a guide that detail other walks too. We had a wonderful stay & I’m looking forward to our next visit Thanks

This property was so lovely and decorated to a good spec.

There is everything you need for an enjoyable stay inside. If I had to be picky I would say that the parking would be an issue in peak season, but as we stayed in February and we were the only people using the parking this was not a problem for us.

A wonderful and well located, well equipped and very comfortable cottage.

Absolutely brilliant.

It was all fab, thank you. Very high quality and cleanliness. One thing we noticed was the UHT milk sachets on the milk tray were out of date. This didn't affect us at all since we had out own milk, but might be worthwhile having the cleaning crew check their stock. ^ Haven't published the review because I don't think my note about the milk is relevant for future bookings. Really wish there was a way to provide feedback to the owner that is separate from feedback for the property because I would give it glowing reviews.

I think the cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and well supplied.

Easy check in and check out. The place was generally clean but less visible places like the shower drain hadn't been cleaned in quite a while.

Very impressed overall, but I gave it a 9 /10 instead of a 10 as the parking space for number 2 is hard to fit in.

I parked into gap 3, but should there be a car in number 3 it would be very hard. Was really happy with everything overall as I said, but I think a couple of extra kitchen knives and utensils would be helpful for cooks but that’s me being ultra picky. We will come back in the future. Thanks for a great place.

We found it difficult to open some of the doors in the flat especially the single bedroom.

Lovely area and farm.

We knew it would be small but it was big enough if just a base to go out and about. Would be perfect for 2 people. 3 was ok but once sofa bed is out you need to walk sideways to get around it to go to the loo. No wifi, no tv signal which is what we wanted to get back to nature.

Would have been useful to have instructions for the induction hob

Perfect location for the village centre.

Very little traffic from road and no noise apparent at night. Good compact base for two adults. Generous quantity of crockery, glassware and cutlery supplied Allocated parking space a bonus but could be an issue for a larger vehicle, luckily the residents of Betty’s Loft are very thoughtful with their parking. The only slight criticism was that the hot water gets very, very hot and could be dangerous, sorry we should have reported earlier but we were too busy enjoying ourselves. Would and have already recommended the property to others.

Everything in the flat was clean and comfortable for a weekend stay In January and I’m sure we will use this accommodation again at the quieter times of year.

However the noise from the road would be too much in summer. Unfortunately there was a 13 hour power cut in the whole area. The shops shut and we were disappointed there wasn’t even a torch or candle/lantern in the flat as apparently this happens here in high winds. Had to drive on unlit roads to Ambleside for some as all Hawkshead shops had closed when we returned from our walk. Bathroom radiator didn’t work at all but fortunately the storage heaters had already charged up overnight so we had heating.

The cottage was lovely and cosy.

Everywhere was clean and tidy. We had a slight issue with the hot water not working but was promptly fixed after I reported it. Hope to return in the spring

Nice clean well equiped cottage at edge of beautiful Hawkshead village which has everything you could need.

Parking extremely tight even for smallish car [ width not length the issue ]. Rubbish/recycling not very clear. We were not left any bin bags and there are no recycling boxes. There were 2 bins, one clearly numbered for the upstairs apartment, but the other seemed to be used by the next door holiday cottage. Would be useful if bin was numbered. Hawkshead will always attract a premium so value about right.

Perfect location Lovely little apartment.

Perfect location to explore the Lakes during our 6 night stay. 12 minutes from Coniston and lake Windermere as located in the middle. All amenities in the apartment. Parking tight so wouldn’t suit X5 Q5 sizes. Would definitely stay here again as Hawkshead has everything a little village needs including 5 pubs.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable, the facilities are excellent, everything you needed was there, even with the covid restrictions.

Having a parking space was a welcome bonus. A very short walk to the village, even with restrictions we were able to sit out and have a meal and a drink. We would highly recommend this cottage, and would love to return.

We had a wonderful 4 days in this property in the beautiful village of Hawkeshead literally round the corner.

It has everything on your doorstep. The property is quiet comfy and modern and very clean. Maybe say that the outdoor area can only be accessed by going out the Front as no access to rear from inside property. Also make it clearer that the Key is inside back gate.

We couldn’t find instructions for the electric hob, but finally worked it out

Disappointed the WiFi did not work quite annoyed as advertised WiFi.

!!! Cottage was lovely great location would go back for another holiday. To improve your stay maybe an umbrella stand and a tray for wet boots, bathroom could do with a little refurb. Outside a pull out canopy from wall or large patio brollie or some pop up covering so can enjoy outside space even if light rain.

Great stay, great area.

Can be a bit noisy with cars going by in the morning but I’m happy getting up early.

Our 5-night holiday stay was very pleasant.

The heating was easily controlled and the recliner sofa and chair were very comfortable.

A perfect ground floor apartment.

Very cosy with an incredibly well equipped kitchen which included a slow cooker. Only a short walk into the charming village of Hawkshead and a great location to visit the Lakes.

This was a lovely place to stay; beautifully clean, very well appointed and nice and warm during some cold days.

Great little cottage in the lake district, was sorry that our trip was too short too short to fully embrace the surrounding area.

Betty's Mews was the perfect place to relax after adventuring around the lakes.

Betty Mews is well placed, close to the main street of the village.

The standard of fixtures and fittings in the premises is excellent resulting in a very comfortable, homely feel - it made for a very enjoyable break. An added bonus was the proximity to the start of five local short walks (3-5 miles) in the stunning countryside, enjoying the Lakes, Tarns and Places of Interest. We hardly moved the car all week. For me, I would give it 9.5/10 Would love to return another time.

This place is simply fantastic.

Ultra clean; ideal location with plenty of things to see and do in the immediate vicinity; lots of places to eat nearby. The perfect place for our family of 3 to stay, couldn’t have asked for any better.

Betty's Mews in Hawkshead was a dream holiday cottage - perfectly placed in the village, clean and cosy, as well as easy to access on arrival.

I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a trip to the Lake District!

Being directly on a road I thought we may have been disturbed by traffic noise?

However this was not the case as few vehicles passed in the evenings and early morning, to prevent one having a good nights sleep. On the plus side the location of the cottage is excellent and a very short walk to the lovely village of Hawkshead.The cottage had every amenities one would need, in clean and excellent condition, with the added advantage of a small private patio area, adjacent to the car parking space. Hawkshead is in a beautiful area and close to both Coniston and Windermere lakes which are only a few miles away, and also ideally situated for the Beatrice Potter & William Wordswoth exhibits. Hence having enjoyed our stay am happy to recommend it, and hope to return again in the near future.

It would.

be a good idea to have an umbrella stand. It was wet when we stayed and, to avoid soiling and soaking floor, we had to lay our brollies in the bath. Hooks for coats would be good too. A hand rail to get in and out of bath/shower for elderly people would prevent accidents. Overall, a great cottage - we were very happy.

Parking space was very tight and the upstairs neighbour liked loud music.

Cottage is very compact, and we might have struggled to dry walking gear if we had been there for a whole week.

Otherwise, it had everything we needed. We are regular visitors to the Lakes, but this was the first time we had used Sykes to book our accommodation. We were impressed with the service.

The cottage was very comfortable, clean and well equipped - looked like it had been newly refurbished.

Close to the village centre and lots of lovely walks from doorstep.

The parking space was very narrow for our Megan Estate car.

The path from the parking space was very narrow- needlessly so - making it awkward to carry suit cases and bags round to front door. Minor point the side gate gets jammed closed.

Betty's Mews was a delightful downstairs cottage apartment and ideal for two older (or younger) people.

It was equipped to a high standard, spotless and very comfortable. All local amenities including shops and eating places were very close by and, although on the road, it was not noisy if the windows were closed. There was a little awareness of people in Betty's Loft, the apartment upstairs, but not enough to be annoying or intrusive. The private parking behind the property in King's Yard was useful but meant carrying cases round to the front down a narrow path. Not too good if a person was disabled. Really only very minor points for slight improvement - the cupboard door to the cleaning equipment was very hard to open and we thought it was locked for a couple of days! It took a strong wrist and some determination to get it open! There was no long mirror in the property and no mirror close to a power point for use of any electrical equipment such as a hair drier or heated brush/straighteners etc. These are minor points and did not detract from our enjoyment or satisfaction with the property. Hawkshead is a lovely village and although popular with tourists it had a friendly, local atmosphere. It was an excellent centre for visiting other parts of the Lakes by car or bus (20 miles to Keswick) and the nearby lake of Esthwaite Water as well as the larger lakes of Windemere and Coniston Water were easily accessible. Some good walks too especially to Tarn Hows some 2 to 3 miles away and to Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's home a mile from Esthwaite Water. The information book provided was very useful for outings and for instructions for the use of equipment in the property. We can highly recommend this property and location.
