    “We had a brilliant stay at Benstead Cottage.”

    The location was perfect to explore the beautiful scenery of the lakes, and we did some lovely walks around Gosforth and Eskdale. Our children loved the parks in Gosforth and Seascale, as well as the ice cream parlour! Ian and Margo were brilliant hosts, and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is gorgeous and vey well equipped. It was the perfect retreat in the evenings! Thank you for a wonderful stay, gifted to us through the Time Away charity - we are so grateful!

The small village of Gosforth sits amongst beautiful Lakeland countryside and consists of a scattering of traditional cottages, farm dwellings, and pubs serving good food. The village forges links far back into the history books and proudly shows the tallest, and oldest Viking Cross in England, plus the church holds many treasures not least the amazing Hogsback Tombs. Close by are the towering peaks of Scafell - England's highest peak, as well as Great Gable, Hard Knott, Harter Fell and Muncaster Fell, whilst the nearby valleys of Eskdale, Wasdale and Dunnerdale provide breathtaking scenery. There are many local attractions in the area including Muncaster Castle, the World Owl Centre and the Ravenglass to Eskdale miniature railway. This great location has something for everyone.
