Orchard Cottage is a characterful two-bedroom stone property located in the small village of Bolton, near Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria.

Deep-set windows and an exposed stone fireplace add to the charm and character of this inviting space. To the rear, the kitchen presents a more contemporary feel, with bright white units and striking blue tiling.

Well equipped for self-catering, it leads out to an enclosed rear garden with a patio, lawn, and two seating areas—perfect for enjoying the fresh country air. To the west, the Lake District National Park offers stunning scenery, from walks around Ullswater and boat trips on the lake to visits to Aira Force Waterfall. Nearby castles and historic sites such as Lowther Castle and Gardens, Brougham Castle, Brough Castle, and Penrith Castle offer excellent day trips, while the National Trust’s Acorn Bank features landscaped gardens and a working watermill.

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland.
