“Well-equipped, spacious cottage in a quiet and peaceful setting.”

The cottage itself was spot-on for a relaxing break, and I can recommend it, however there were a couple of things which need to be noted to avoid problems on arrival 1. The parking space available is not large enough for two cars, as described. Luckily, we shared one car; there was no other parking option had we needed a second space. 2. The property is steeply uphill from Pooley Bridge village, so not an easy walk for anyone with restricted mobility, like my sister. We had to use the car ...

“Excellent accommodation - clean & well looked after- the very large kitchen was new & well equipped.”

Lovely sitting room. Two large bedrooms and recently refurbished bathroom. An extra bathroom / seperate WC downstairs and a handy good sized porch area where we could put the dogs crate. We were a party of 2 with a dog and we probably only used half the cottage - ideal for a larger family as big for a cottage. Very convenient setting only 5 minute walk into Pooley Bridge. The only outside area was to the side of the cottage where you park so you can't let the dog out but no problem to pop them on a lead and have a quick walk down the lane. Would definitely recommend.

“Orientation can't be changed so it's worth noting that evenings can be chill but central heating came on at a certain time.”

We assume the non-enclosed garden is the parking area at the side.

Enjoyed walks from the doorstep in the winter sunshine,also a very short walk from cottage into Pooley Bridge then back later to the warmth by the fire. Beds are so comfortable. Would love to visit again! Deborah & Family

“Location is incredible!”

House is lovely and warm, and so well equipped - had absolutely everything you could want. Only nice thing would be a slightly bigger sofa so we could all sit together. Would highly recommend this lovely cottage for a stay, and would love to stay again ☺️

“We had a great experience at Winn’s Cottage.”

Facilities were good, location excellent and the property was very spacious.Could be even better with larger and more modern sofas in the lounge and more wood for the fire, particularly in winter as the starter pack was only sufficient to get the fire going really. We very much enjoyed our stay.

“Gorgeous cottage surrounded by sheep which we loved watching.”

.! The cottage is very spacious and well equipped. We enjoyed cozy evenings in front of log burner after exploring the beautiful countryside. Location is great with a short stroll to the village of Pooley Bridge and the shores of Ullswater. We had a few problems with hot water but the hosts were very attentive and lovely.

“Lovely spacious cottage in a great location.”

Parking for two cars on site. The cottage had everything we needed and was warm & cosy. The two bedrooms were lovely! It was great to have such a big kitchen with a table. We loved. Ring in a quiet lane and enjoyed watching the comings & goings of the farmer with his sheep. Thank you for a great stay!

“A lovely cottage in a great location.”

Spacious rooms and well equipped. The large bedrooms were ideal for us. A walk up the lane leads to a walk down to the path near the river and then in to Pooley Bridge. We have relatives in Penrith so will definitely try and book again

“Delightful.”

A vase of wildflowers to welcome us was lovely. See our entry in the vistor book for more info. Excellent location. A pity there is not a spot to enjoy the evening sun but you cannot have everything. Extremely comfortable

POOLEY BRIDGE

The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed. There are numerous walks with breathtaking views nearby, plus a short walk up to Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains, whilst the towns of Penrith and Keswick are within driving distance. Pooley Bridge is an ideal base for a cottage holiday stay in the stunning Lake District.
