“We stayed during covid so I took my own cleaning equipment so i could make sure it was thoroughly cleansed before we moved in as I took my 83 yr old mother.”
When i moved the furniture to clean it hadn't been cleaned for some time by the look of the dirt. Parking, in the description it says there is a parking place infront of the cottage. What it doesn't say is that it is in a field with sheep. We were in our new Mercedes, every day there was mud all up the sides and front of it from the sheep around it on a night. There were also muddy footprints allover the bonnet and roof I'm assuming that was cats. We didn't get off to the best start. The cottage is very comfortable and in a great location for the lake and walking. The garden is a bonus but on the one day we wanted to use it the paths were covered with ants and flying ants. The stairs are steep. The roll top bath is fabulous looking over the lake but my mother couldn't used the bath or the shower above as there's nothing to hold on to. My mother lives on her own and is very sprightly but the stairs and bath would have definitely been a deciding factor in choosing this accommodation had we known in advance, we wouldn't have chosen it. We would go back again without my mother if the parking wasn't with the sheep as we love coniston and this cottage is in a great location.
We would like to thank Ms Manning for the kind comments she found the very comfortable in a great location.
As owners, we have extensive experience of taking elderly relatives on holiday. Had you let us know in advance or made contacted you during your holiday that you were/had an elderly relative at the property we could have made your visit more relaxing and less stressful for you and mum.
After receiving your comments my wife has pulled out the sofa, beds and wardrobes and cleaned the spaces behind. We are reviewing all of your other comments. We also do not find the stairs steep or had comments on this but sorry your mum found them to be.
In terms of parking, Sunbeam Cottage backs onto National Trust land that rolls down to Coniston lake, its an area of natural beauty. There is a purpose made hard standing for two medium cars. On rare occasions the National Trust farmer has sheep/lambs on the land this would depend on the time of the year.
We have been letting Sunbeam Cottage since 1997 the sheep/lambs have not caused damage to any car. Normally the Sheep/lambs do not come anywhere near the property there is a natural banking that deters them. On the rare occasion we have experienced a few smudges cause by the rubbing of a lambs nose. We would suggest that this is what Ms Manning described as mud. The marks on the roof/bonnet were not caused by the sheep. Most Holidaymakers especially children, love to watch the sheep/lambs playing on the land.
We do have empathy in respect that Ms Manning brought a new Mercedes to the cottage and her nervousness.
Parking for 10/15 cars is also available near the church about 2 minute walk away from the cottage. The present parking arrangement is fine.
We hope to see you again also, please let us know through Lakelovers if you do, we will make sure your experience meets your requirements next time. Please send our kind regards to mum.
