Arriving at Brackenlea, take in its grand exterior whilst parking up in the drive, which offers space for five vehicles.
Take the steps up to the entrance to begin your Cumbrian getaway. The spacious sitting room is where you can enjoy some light entertainment on the Smart TV, with the gas fire setting the homely ambience; plush sofas provide the ideal place for cuddling up with your loved ones. Next to this, the contemporary kitchen area has everything you could possibly need while visiting, including modern granite countertops and breakfast bar, and a roomy layout with state-of-the-art appliances making it the perfect haven for the chef of your party to whip up a storm in the kitchen.
To the front of the house is the formal dining room, where you can gather around the table with your family, discussing your day and planning your next adventure, whilst taking in the expansive views displayed through the large picture windows, inspiring your impending nature-filled plans.
For some peace and quiet, head to the garden room with two sets of double patio doors leading directly to the garden and patio. With additional sofas you can relax with a good book or watch TV and the large family breakfast table offers the ideal spot to gather in the morning for breakfast and to plan the day ahead. If you would prefer an evening of friendly rivalry, travel to the garage, home to the games room, which features a snooker/table tennis table. This area also features secure bike storage for ten bikes, perfect for any avid cyclists of the group.
When sleep calls, make your way to one of five stylish bedrooms. On the ground-floor choose from a lovely king-size with balcony with an en-suite bathroom or four steps down reach a super-king-size (zip/link) and a cosy double, both benefiting from an adjacent ground-floor bathroom.
Make your way to the first floor and relax in the impressive super-king-size bedroom which boasts commanding views across the neighbouring fields, take in the view from the comfort of your bed through the floor-to-ceiling patio doors, or relax on the balcony with coffee. This fabulous room features A-framed beams, plus an en-suite with free-standing bath and walk-in shower. This floor also features another cosy double with en-suite walk-in shower, basin and WC.
Head outside to the expansive garden, which is dotted with leafy green plants, several patio areas with plenty of outdoor seating, a barbecue, and a lush lawn, ideal for enjoying with your four-legged friends. Why not enjoy a refreshing drink in the pretty pergola or on the wooden swing hammock.
For a special occasion, there are high quality restaurants close by: the Lindeth Howe Hotel is 300m further down Lindeth Drive and offers lunches, afternoon tea and dinners, or take a short walk to Simon Rogan's 'Henrock' restaurant at the Linthwaite House Hotel. The lovely Arts and Crafts House, Blackwell, is also just moments away.
Lake Windermere is a short walk away and offers a variety of watersport activities, such as kayaking and paddle boarding, or for a more relaxed experience, catch a lake cruise over to Ambleside or Lakeside.
Board the chain ferry and explore more of your picture-perfect surroundings with a day trip to Far and Near Sawrey, Hawkshead and Ambleside, or take the lakeshore path along to the National Trust property, Wray Castle.
You will find some picturesque walks on your doorstep, including Cockshott Point, Brant Fell and Orrest Head. For the hikers of the group, multiple picturesque low fells, in addition to the peaks of Helvellyn and Scafell Pike, are set within easy reach, each offering a challenging pursuit to the summit.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is three miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There is also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and 'Go-Ape' adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
