Emma “Beautiful home and very well equipped.”
Had a wonderful stay. Great location being only few mins walk to nearest shops, restaurants and lake but far enough away for it to be quieter of an evening. Just wish the check in time was earlier, 5pm was a little late.
- Emma, April 2024Jo “Great location.”
No problems with parking, there was always a space. Comfy beds! We would go back and stay again.
- Jo, March 2024Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you didn't have any problems with parking and had some good nights sleep! We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Lakelovers Owner Relations Property Owner
Phillip “Second stay at this property and was as fabulous as our first visit two years ago.”
Perfect location for both Bowness and Windermere
- Phillip, January 2024Sarah “Lovely house, very comfortable.”
Everything you need and more, great location. We would definitely be returning.
- Sarah, September 2023Catherine “Lovely house in great location.”
House was comfortable and well equipped.
- Catherine, September 2023Lorrain “Beautiful house - spacious and comfortable”
- Lorrain, July 2023Anne “The house was great and suited us as we were out most of the weekend.”
The front bedrooms are very bright, waking us up at 5am as there were no blackout blinds or any way to block out the sun. The house was reasonably clean although there were quite a lot of cobwebs and spiders. A few things were broken, such as one of the dining chairs is about to collapse and the plinths in the kitchen. The oven seemed back to front with the symbols not corresponding to the function - this caused us to have grilled pizza!! The communication about checking in etc was excellent. There was virtually no hand soap left in the bathroom and 2 toilet rolls for the weekend but I wasn’t sure if these were included.
- Anne, June 2023Zoe “The property is wonderfully homely, very well stocked with everything you need for a week away from home - tea, coffee, sugar, condiments, laundry detergent, good thick towels etc.”
A proper home away from home. It is well presented, with comfy huge beds and cosy sofas, two good TV rooms, and a powerful hot shower. There are odd scuffs here and there on the paint work - but for us that added to the comfort as it doesn't feel so pristine that we couldn't relax, especially with having our two dogs with us. The location is fantastic, there's so many pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. The coop is an easy 10 minute stroll away, and we walked to the ferry several times at bowness, which took 10 mins. The heating was easy to boost when we were chilly or if we needed to dry out wet clothes after a rainy walk. Parking is only on-street, which initially worried us, however, we never had any issues with finding a parking space near to the front door. There are a few recent negative reviews on here about noise due to building work nextdoor, which was ongoing during our stay, however, we didn't find this particularly disruptive and we found that it was carried out within legal permitted hours. Overall, a really lovely, well-thought out, spacious holiday property which we would love to come back to in the future.
- Zoe, April 2023Michelle “Struggled with keeping the heating at a constant.”
We don't like a particularly hot house (normally have our thermostat set at 18 degrees), but as the weather was minus degrees outside the temperature inside kept dropping to 14 degrees. Kept on having to boost it, especially as we had a baby with us
- Michelle, March 2023Karen “We had a lovely weekend stay at Brinkburn.”
The house is great and was very clean and comfortable with lots of space inside. The location is very good, only a 10 minute walk to the pubs, cafes, shops and lakeside in Bowness. We visited Grizedale forest and Fell foot park and had a lovely (although steep) walk from the back of the property up to Brand Fell which has stunning views of Lake Windermere. A couple of negatives, unfortunately the property next door is undergoing a complete renovation and so we were woken early each morning with very loud banging which continued through the day. Having a dog with us, we felt the property lacks a decent enclosed outside space. There is a small front yard and a communal back yard but neither are enclosed so we couldn’t let our dog out unless on a lead (which she is not used to). There was also a large skip from next door outside the back door. Having said this, we did really enjoy the house and our few days away but wouldn’t book again with a dog.
- Karen, February 2023Thank you for your kind comments, and for taking the time to leave feedback. We are very sorry for the disruption to your holiday caused by the neighbour's renovation work. We have been in contact with them and have been assured that work will only be done within the legal timeframes permitted. While we apologise for any inconvenience this may have cause, we are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back to Brinkburn in the near future. Property Owner
Chris “The property itself is accommodating and the location is fantastic.”
The dampener for us was I booked this place as a surprise trip away for my heavily pregnant partner and to be woken on 2 or the 3 mornings by loud renovations work next door that continued throughout the day was very disappointing. I wouldn’t have booked the place if we knew about that… but without the works next door, it would be a lovely stay.
- Chris, February 2023Catherine “A wonderful place in a great location that feels so cosy & homely as well as lots of space to chill.”
Lovely big kitchen that was really clean & had everything we needed. A gorgeous place to stay, would definitely visit again - thank you!
- Catherine, October 2022Charlie “Our third stay at the property.”
Conveniently located, a good size and nicely decorated. Only thing I would say this time is the front room was quite cold - the heating made little difference. Perhaps something can be done to limit the draft that comes through the front door into the hallway. Other than that, a great stay once again!
- Charlie, October 2022Pamela “House was lovely and very comfortable.”
Only thing missing was a small grass area suitable for dogs to use
- Pamela, October 2022Ian “Excellent accommodation & location.”
We cannot fault it. We would definitely book again.
- Ian, September 2022Pamela “This is a wonderful and comfortable large house in a fantastic location.”
We have never visited biskey howe before so it was great it was so close to the house. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
- Pamela, September 2022Kirstie “Absolutely lovely cottage in a great location.”
The cottage had everything we needed and more. What would be useful is if the TV worked in the snug room and also possibly a dishcloth or sponges for cleaning up. I know this isn't something you have to supply but we never thought to bring one away with us and other properties we have visited supply them. Would definitely return.
- Kirstie, May 2022Dean “Great location.”
We had a lovely 7 night stay at brinkburn. Location was great, house was clean, comfy beds and a lot of space, very well equipped kitchen, the description does not say but the TV is a smart TV too, which is an added bonus for an evening in after a day of walks. It would have been even better if a couple of logs were provided for the log burner for when you arrive as well as a couple of dishwater tablets, you are unable to get into the property until 5pm which is quite late, would have been nice to have these but not a big issue. It does not have its own parking space which is fine for just 2 with a small car as you are likely to get a space on the road outside, however if it was a multi car trip you may have struggled as the road was always packed. The property is at the top of the hill in bowness on Windermere and was only a 10 minute walk to the front which was great, we could go out for meals in bowness with no need to drive. If it was just a one car holiday we would definitely book here again! Thank you.
- Dean, May 2022Francis “Five star accommodation.”
No expense spared by these owners to make sure guests have absolutely everything at their fingertips. Comfortable, clean and ideally located, being only a short walk from the shops and water’s edge. Anyone looking for the perfect base from which to explore the Lakes - look no further, you won’t be disappointed. Will book again at the earliest opportunity.
- Francis, April 2022Mark “Lovely cottage in great location.”
Good size, Very comfortable and clean. Would stay here again.
- Mark, March 2022Annie “Loved cottage huge downside couldn't use the back door reported it but nothing got done .”
Very very disappointed as had to carry the dog into kitchen didn't want to dirty the carpet.I also noticed on review's the lock was broken before I got there very very disappointed.
- Annie, March 2022Cathy “Well presented spacious cottage with everything you need, very homely, great for a family, enjoyed our stay would definitely use again.”
- Cathy, March 2022Stacey “Wow…. What can we say, we work so hard all year and this half term break we’ve just had the best stay for the week.”
We can be a little fussy when looking for the perfect place but this home took our breath away. The house was homely, very spacious, had everything needed, it was very airy and clean (I have awful allergies and I didn’t feel irritable once) and it accommodated our little family absolutely perfectly. Location was great and very central within windemere. It was walking distance to beautiful pubs and restaurants. Skye’s cottages were extremely attentive with answering questions. We would certainly come back again. We’ve made the best memories in a beautiful home and the cost of the property was a little added bonus ❤️ Thank-you
- Stacey, February 2022Lisa “The time to get into the property is too late this should be brought forward and the check out time should be an hour later!”
The property is could do with a good hover, also the back door needs a key to lock the door properly it didn’t seem very secure to us!
- Lisa, January 2022Phillip “Great stay.”
Great location. Exceeded all expectations
- Phillip, January 2022Paul “A fantastic cottage for a family break, lots of room and up to date facilities, great location for the village.”
Loved the log fire after a day out walking. Already booked again for next New Year.
- Paul, December 2021Jacqueline “Lovely cosy cottage.”
Great location close to shops and pubs. Beautiful walks. Will definitely book again.
- Jacqueline, December 2021Andrew “Very nice cottage”
- Andrew, November 2021Christine “Wonderful cottage.”
Very clean, beautifully maintained. We would definitely like to return - excellent location. Thank you. We had a lovely family break
- Christine, November 2021Claire “This was our second visit & the house was as lovely as we remembered.”
It’s very comfortable, well equipped & spacious. The tv room at the rear of the property is ideal for teenagers. The house is ideally located & everything we needed was within walking distance. We never needed to use our car.
- Claire, October 2021Rachael “Even better ifs--------Few minor things need fixing, towel hook in downstairs WC, extractor hood light, welcome pack folder broken, log burner glass was very dirty and needed a clean and a couple of the dining chairs were a bit "loose" and concerning.”
On to the many positives.....The property itself was lovely, great size, bedrooms big enough and beds really comfortable, really spacious dining room and kitchen. Appliances and entertainment all good and shower upstairs was excellent and deserves a mention! Very difficult parking in street, often had to park elsewhere let alone get close to the property. A property that sleeps six is probably likely to be hosting 1 if not two vehicles. That is the only reason I would be unlikely to stay again, but would recommend in a heartbeat to any travelers with out a vehicle.
- Rachael, October 2021Charmaine “We stayed at the properly last October & loved it so much that we went back again!”
Lovely property & excellent location
- Charmaine, September 2021Stephen “A great week spent at Brinkburn.”
Excellently positioned in Bowness and a great base for travels around the Lake District. The house itself was of a good standard with the right level of cleanliness. Having WiFi access was a godsend to keep the kids occupied on an evening after outdoor adventures. Main challenge was parking, couldn’t get parked in the street or any close so ended up getting a week pass for the nearby (5 min walk) car park. Be warned, if you have to go down this route look to download the App before you go to the Lakes, trying to do it in the car park as the ticket machine wasn’t working took a good 25 minutes!
- Stephen, August 2021Spencer “Great location, very clean and well equipped”
- Spencer, August 2021Julie “We had a great time at the Brinkburn cottage, however we felt an extra bathroom suite and an enclosed outside area for our dog would be a good idea.”
- Julie, June 2021Stu “Lovely house, great location.”
Minor issues with parking, no garden for the dog, and it would be nice to have had some basic condiments salt pepper olive oil, even a washing tablet
- Stu, June 2021Irene “Property was bigger and better than expected, Location Fantastic Would re book this property again, have stayed in other properties in this road, this is by for the best.”
Cleanliness could be increased shower screen water marked, door trims just need wiping down dust settled on trims quite thick. Glass in front door and back windows needed cleaning 5 min job done it myself, while waiting for family members to get ready.
- Irene, April 2021Thank you very much for your feedback, we sincerely apologise that you were disapointed with the cleanliness standards at. Cleanliness is of paramount importance to us and as such we have arranged a deep clean at the property and have replaced the cleaner. We do hope to see you here again soon. Property Owner
Nikki “The place is central to Bowness and accessing all the surrounding tourist attractions.”
House on the whole was comfortable but really does need a deep clean, the oven and toaster looked like it had not be cleaned for a while which was disappointing as we had been in lockdown for 3 months so was an ideal time to do it. We reported these immediately on arrival, baking trays had to be cleaned before using and the vacuum cleaner was full. It was good to have a washing machine which I don't think was in the information when booking. There is no garden furniture.
- Nikki, April 2021Thank you very much for your feedback, we have also updated the description to relfect that the property has a washing machine. We sincerely apologise that you were disapointed with the cleanliness standards at. Cleanliness is of paramount importance to us and as such we have arranged a deep clean at the property and have replaced the cleaner. We do hope to see you here again soon. Property Owner
Julie “Check into property changed from 3pm, 4pm then 5pm.”
This was due to the COVID and extra cleaning which we didn’t mind. So to find the cottage not up to the extra 2 hours cleaning left us disappointed. Downstairs toilet inside door full of dust and spiders web on mirror. I emptied kitchen bin to find it not cleaned properly and a child’s shoe at the bottom of it. Property was bigger than expected, lovely log fire which we bought the logs etc from the Cooperative. Furnishing to a high standard and very comfortable. Oven not cleaned to a good standard. Bedrooms comfortable but need new pillows as this let’s is down. Bath and shower were amazing, lovely soft towels. Outside the back of the property we parked 2 cars. Also two properties shared the back, so all the rubbish was piled up on our side, and looked like it had been there for months. 2 defusers were in place shame both were empty. A few niggling things but overall had a lovely comfortable stay. Thank you

Francis “The cottage was not ready for us at 4pm as the cleaners were still on site and didn’t finish until 4:20pm as they said they had been very busy that day, also there was lots of dust on some of the skirting boards and shelves,, the oven needs cleaning and was not very good for cooking.”
however we still had a lovely time
- Francis, September 2020Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay. We are pleased that you had a lovely time despite the late check-in. We sincerely apologise for this. Please be assured that we have flagged the dust issue with the cleaners and that this has since been rectified. Property Owner
Sivani “Really enjoyed this cottage .”
. lovely distance to town centre and even closer to Windermere too. Only wish was if the had an enclosed garden for the dog however I would still more likely book again.
- Sivani, August 2020Elizabeth “The cottage was fantastic for everything we needed.”
It was brilliantly located for a very shrot walk into Bowness and the shops. Everywhere was beautifully clean and the living areas were extremely spacious. In fact the cottage is bigger than it appears on the photos which made it easy for the adults to spread out and the children to play. The shower was excellent too. All in all I would highly recommend. I will add check-out is 10am, which was a little earlier than we were hoping but understandable during COVID. We would definitely come back!
- Elizabeth, July 2020Susan “LOVELY AND CLEAN, I WILL DEFINATELY RE-BOOK, THANKYOU”
- Susan, January 2020John “Myself and my wife & 4 kids had a wonderful time in bowness and the cottage we ...”
Myself and my wife & 4 kids had a wonderful time in bowness and the cottage we stayed in was absolutely superb everything about the property was excellent we enjoyed it that much we are going to book it again many thanks john & fiona Thompson
- John, January 2020Tina “The property was a lovely welcoming home, much bigger than we expected and had excellent facilities (Inc.”
dish washer, washing machine, baby high chair and even a coffee machine (which we didn't use as we brought our own but we could save space next time)), all the rooms were big and inviting. It was lovely to have a snug as well as the living room as it meant we could watch videos while the others were watching their TV programs. Bedrooms were very cosy and comfortable and bathroom spacious, linen and towels were of high quality and the downstairs toilet was handy aswel. The log fire was lovely so make sure you take logs with you or buy from the local co-op (the logs in the cottage are for display purposes but you could tell that some people had already taken a couple which is naughty) The location was perfect, close enough to walk into Bowness within 5 minutes with everything on your doorstep and fantastic walks behind the property with a beautiful view over Windermere. The property is extremely dog friendly and the rear entrance made it easy to take dogs for a walk especially with wet weather and muddy boots (there is also an external hose at the back of the property so you can rinse your welly boots). We had a lovely stay and would definitely consider Brinkburn in future. Thank you for making it such a special holiday!
- Tina, January 2020Dominic “Lovely cottage , very roomy and clean, short walk from town , will be back xx”
- Dominic, November 2019Terri “Sadly the property had not been cleaned upstairs after speaking to Jackie at Sykes a cleaner was round within the hour and was all sorted followed up with a further call to make sure I was satisfied.”
The following morning I received a call from Sykes making sure me and my guests had everything we needed. I thought Sykes were very sufficient in dealing with the matter and a courtesy call made us cared for.
- Terri, November 2019Cheryl “Perfect location, extremely spacious and provided visitors with everything they could possibly need.”
would highly recommend!
- Cheryl, October 2019D “We have stayed in lots of cottages even one on fallbarrow park , the marina village and many more but we loved this cottage the best .”
Spotless , everything you need is here . Definitely booking again . Beautiful

- Vicky, August 2019Matthew “Really nice comfortable cottage in a great location , would definitely stay again and to top it of the weather was amazing.”
Miss it already !! Ps forgot to leave a note to say the radiator in the front double bedroom has a slight leak coming from the thermostat valve, noticed it dripping onto the carpet .. hope this helps. Kind regards
- Matthew, July 2019Thank you for your feed back. We are so glad you enjoyed our property and had a great stay. We hope you will be back soon. Thank you for bringing the radiator leak to our attention, this has been fixed straight away. Property Owner
