“We had a lovely stay here, we really enjoyed it and would recommend it to others!”

The owner was very kind. Lots of information with things to do etc. The accommodation was comfortable, but could do with a few updates, for example the shower, and maybe some hand soap on arrival. Would stay here again. The location was lovely and scenic, need to plan your trips out and know that it’s a remote area, so can be tricky using sat nav/Google maps as the reception dips in and out. But we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!!! Thank you! ☺️

Brackenber Lodge rests down a quiet private lane, attached to Brackenber Hall. A country-style lodge tucked away near the market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland, it’s perfect for family and friends looking for a well-deserved break. Inside is the open-plan living room waits to give you a warm welcome, hosting a set of light blue sofas crowded round a brightly coloured rug. The oak furniture adds a homely feel, finishing the lounge in style. Adjacent to this is a dining area tucked under the stairs. Step down over quarry tiles to the kitchen, which is fully equipped with a second dining area complete with fitted benches and china tea cups on the far wall. Catch your rest in the twin room on the ground floor, with a lovely outlook of green trees. Upstairs is a double, single and family room resting in the eaves, enhanced by Velux skylights. Head out into the garden area to be greeted by wisteria cascading along a trellis, trees full of red berries, bird feeders and horses grazing in the field behind. A covered porch area is ideal for sitting out with a glass of wine, reminiscing over the day's adventures. The small hamlet of Brackenber is on the fringes of open fields and Appleby Golf Course. About the location

APPLEBY-IN-WESTMORLAND

Penrith 14 miles.

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. Appleby has a wonderful selection of quality independent shops, cafes and delicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with some interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and still today many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the historic and awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct. With the delightful Ullswater and the magnificent Lake District within easy reach, this is an ideal holiday location.

Please note, smoking is not permitted on the lane outside as this it is owned by the owner.
Please note: Owner doesn't accept stays longer than two weeks.
