“The property was in the perfect location, fantastic garden and perfect layout.”

If this property ever comes up for sale, let us know as we would want to live there. I would like to highlight a couple of matters. Door security. The door in the master bedroom out to the garden needs securing. The current bolt that secures the stable door style top to the bottom of the door is flimsy and with a light yank would open easily from the outside. Likewise with the downstairs bedroom and entrance porch - a little realignment of the current locks would improve security. The ...

The door in the master bedroom out to the garden needs securing. The current bolt that secures the stable door style top to the bottom of the door is flimsy and with a light yank would open easily from the outside. Likewise with the downstairs bedroom and entrance porch - a little realignment of the current locks would improve security. The cleanliness of the house was mainly brilliant but cobwebs in the eaves, light fittings and most noticeably the kitchen light needed attention. Dust on the spiral staircase could have been easily addressed too. Minor matter to address in what was an amazing house and an amazing stay.

“Lovely location and quirky cottage.”

Everything there required including a well stocked kitchen however I would say the attic bedroom (accessed via spiral stairs) requires an upgraded mattress, it was extremely uncomfortable and hard, possibly suitable for one night but certainly not a week. However, the main bedroom mattress was lovely, which we were able to use once our family members left following their 3 night stay, otherwise it would have spoiled the holiday.

It was cleaned to a very high standard. Close to Coniston and all the amenities. Highly recommended for walks straight from the door. Coppermine Valley spectacular, everybody in the village extremely friendly.

You don't mind the rain so much when you can come home to fire. Great walks up the Old Man and Coppermines. Brisk walk up to the reservoir from the cottage to clear out any cobwebs.

Near enough Coniston but also far enough away. Also, we didn't need to use the car once being able to walk straight from the property. The cottage itself was lovely and well appointed. Ideal for two couples having two double bedrooms with their our great facilities.

Poppy Cottage is an enchanting 200 year old cottage. It is set on the lower slopes of a mountain above the picturesque village of Coniston. Here you can soak up the very best of both worlds. The cottage is strolling distance from bustling Coniston village centre and the shores of Coniston Water. Yet it is set in absolute peace and quiet within a dreamy cottage garden. The garden commands breathtaking views of the dramatic surrounding mountains. The panorama includes amazing views of the Old Man Mountain and old copper mines. Complete with waterfalls and luscious bluebell woods on your doorstep. This beautiful place offers a fantastic base from which to explore this vibrant village, the magic of Coniston Water and also the wider Lake District. A tiny lane ends in a terrace of three cottages, dazzling white against the backdrop of the fells. Step inside and be transported to the classy interior. The decor of Poppy Cottage combines contemporary luxury with cosy styling. Cream walls in the open plan living room contrast with beams and glossy oak floorboards. Rich brown leather mixes with cream canvas chairs. At the centre is a wooden spiral staircase. Luxurious bedrooms with sleigh beds and magical views, one with tiny stable door to the garden. Another with freestanding roll top bath. Everything feels generous including the Shaker-style kitchen lavishly equipped. In the warmer months there is a large garden with furniture, perfect for the end of the day. A magical cottage and perfect at every time of the Lakeland year. == Accommodation in detail Poppy Cottage is a private drive with ample parking for 3. You can walk through the wild meadow garden or pathway to the cottage entrance. The living / dining room is a beautiful space with oak beams and floor, open log fire, Smart TV, sumptuous furnishings and Bose entertainment centre with all essential Wi Fi. A spiral wooden staircase leads to bedroom 2 from the living room (open plan, no door). The shaker style kitchen has a vaulted ceiling and everything you may need. Bedroom 1 features oak beams and floor with a king size sleigh bed with pitched roof and strategically placed roof light for stargazing. Plus don't forget the roll top bath! Bedroom 2 can be approached via the spiral staircase. It is a quaint loft room with more stargazing. It has a miniature stable door down stone steps to the garden, king size sleigh bed and en-suite shower room. Bedroom 3 with French single sleigh bed / day bed. This room also doubles as a great second sitting room. Bedroom plan:- The main bedroom has a toilet and shower, this is the bedroom you reach from the spiral staircase in the living room. The 2nd double bedroom has a stand alone shower. This is reached by exiting the living room, going down 3 steps, on your right you go up 4 steps. Going past the 2nd bedroom along the corridor and down the 3 steps from the living room you will find the bathroom with shower and toilet, on your right here is the 3rd smaller bedroom. Location A Coniston holiday cottage takes you slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Bowness and Lake Windermere. Meet a wilder landscape full of adventure. Coniston Water is famous for its part in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons. Peel Island was the setting for the 'Wild Cat Island' featured in the story. The lake is also known for Donald Campbell's water speed record attempt in 'Bluebird'. But the real magic comes from the breathtaking surroundings. Dramatic fells including Coniston Old Man, wild woodlands and wonderful Lake District walks. You'll have access to no end of stunning routes, from leisurely strolls to challenging ascents.
