“A very good base for a pre Christmas getaway with two grown up daughters and their partners.”

Lots of space and privacy for everyone set out in a tastefully designed luxurious environment. Fabulous views across the fields to the coast in the distance and walking from the doorstep. Local cosy pub too. What's not to like.

The property

Scenic & Stylish Escape Set in the Lake District National Park, Rowan Hill combines breathtaking countryside views with stylish, light-filled interiors.

Perfect for families or friends, it’s a peaceful retreat within walking distance of a welcoming pub and a short drive from world-class attractions. Rowan Hill is a beautifully presented holiday home set within the Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the charming village of Crook. With private driveway parking for five cars, it’s an ideal choice for families or groups seeking a peaceful countryside escape. Lovingly refurbished in 2025 by local designer Linda Joseph, Rowan Hill showcases abundant natural light and stunning views over the Vale of Eden – on a clear day you can even spot the top of Blackpool Tower, 50 miles away.

Every bedroom, along with the living room, kitchen and games room, enjoys the same spectacular outlook. Inside, natural materials and textures create a warm, inviting atmosphere, with engineered oak flooring on the ground floor, Herdwick wool carpets upstairs, and locally sourced Lake District slate in the entrance and hearth.

Many furnishings are bespoke to the property. The spacious NEFF-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare anything from a quick breakfast to a hearty dinner.

Gather in the open-plan living and dining area with its Smart TV and open fire, or head to the games room for table football, board games and another Smart TV.

Positioned at opposite ends of the house, the games room and sitting room ensure noise won’t travel. Sleeping up to seven guests, Rowan Hill offers two king-size bedrooms, one flexible super-king/twin, and a single room ideal for a child or extra guest.

Each main bedroom features a vanity table that doubles as a quiet workspace. There are three stylish bathrooms – one with a walk-in shower, one with a freestanding bath, and an en-suite with walk-in shower – all with heated towel rails, basins, WCs and de-mister mirrors.

A utility room with washing machine and dryer adds extra convenience. Rowan Hill’s outdoor spaces offer a tranquil escape, with large oaks and sycamores in a meadow leading to tiered lawns and traditional stonework.

In late spring, wild bluebells bloom beneath the trees, adding a splash of colour to this peaceful countryside setting. The location offers endless opportunities for walking and exploring, with nearby highlights including National Trust Sizergh Castle, Fell Foot for wild swimming, and the renowned gardens of Levens Hall.

The Dales Way passes close by, with a 4.5-mile walk into Bowness-on-Windermere. A 7-minute stroll brings you to The Sun Inn for hearty pub meals, while Michelin-starred dining at The Gilpin, or gastropub dining at Wild Boar Estate are just a short drive away.

Local farm shops and artisan producers at Plumgarths round off the area’s superb foodie offerings. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, outdoor adventure, or a memorable get-together for family or friends, Rowan Hill is the perfect base to enjoy the beauty of the Lake District National Park.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.
