I can't fault Jeannie and Logan for their attentiveness and the occasional surprise top-up of eggs from their rescue hens. It is a remote location, but a short drive to Kendal which has large shops and a few takeaways. It is a good location to see the southern side of the lakes, but a bit too far for long hikes in the north of the national park, e.g. Buttermere and beyond. However, there are some really nice walks up the nearby valleys. It is worth noting that there is a narrow bridge to navigate approaching from one side and narrow single track lanes from the other. The property is an old corn mill, so has so much character and the coal-powered Aga was fun to experiment with and was like stepping back in time. There were lots of large baking trays, but not many small ones, in an otherwise well-equipped kitchen.
