“The stay was okay, but for the money we would have liked something a bit better kept the pictures also don't accurately portray the garden which is on an extremely high slope and relatively unusable if you want to play with the kids.”

Dogs are also not allowed on It. It also seems that the owners are quite parsimonious in nature as they charge a large mark up for logs to be used in the hot tub or fire place, something we weren't able to fully utilise as a thermometer that was used to check hot it was was not functioning. We notified the owners of this and to our utter shock they tried to claim our dog had somehow chewed it despite it never leaving the hot tub and by their rules, dogs were not be outside the property unaccompanied off lead so I can't fathom how they believed this happened. We told Sykes that we had no part in it's damage and they proceeded to automatically charge our account without any discussion despite us having texts to show we notified the owner.

The garden is an ideal place for children to play and be free. There is also room to the side and front of the property. Logs are £10 per bag and is the same as buying wood elsewhere. It was a real disappointment that you left without putting any money in the honesty box or attempt to try to pay for the logs you had used. This is totally unusual as most guests are very honest. The hot tub/equipment is cleaned and checked prior to every arrival and was not damaged before your stay. Guests are informed to report any problems or damages on arrival or during their stay so they can be rectified. This was not done by yourselves at any point during your stay. If you had done it would have been sorted immediately. Foxdene is a cottage with space and views for adults and children to enjoy, with guests that stay usually being honest and respectful. About the location

UNDERBARROW

Kendal 5 miles; Windermere 7.5 miles.

Underbarrow is a quiet, pretty Lakeland village close to the historic market town of Kendal and within reach of the wonderful Lake Windermere. The village has a pub and is ideally placed for exploring southern Lakeland and the Lake District National Park. Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, both with fine gardens, are nearby, and Kendal has much to offer in terms of shopping and is quite lively culturally, thanks to the Brewery Arts Centre and the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and Museum, which is widely recognised as one of the best in the region. Also worth a visit is the ruin of Kendal Castle, which was formerly the home of Katherine Parr, and there’s plenty to see and do with Grange-over-Sands, Cartmel, Ulverton, Bowness, Ambleside and even the Yorkshire Dales National Park within driving distance. Underbarrow is a lovely base for exploring the area.
