The property

Resting in a secluded spot in Grasmere, Cumbria is this romantic retreat, Wisteria. With a boutique finish and character features, while being within easy reach of local amenities, including pubs and the Michelin starred The Forest Side Restaurant, this cottage is perfect for a couple looking to explore the delights of the Lake District National Park. On arrival, private driveway parking greets you, before making your way down through the garden and to the front door. Enter into the open-plan living space, where a bespoke kitchen fit with granite worktops and electric integrated appliances invite you to cook up a storm. Here, you can also sit down to dine with a good bottle of wine in the dining area while you plan your days out. Relax and unwind in the sitting area, home to a Smart TV, perfect for catching up on your favourite shows, as well as boasting exposed beams and character features throughout the space. Climb the stairs to the immaculately presented bedroom, home to a double bed and an extravagant colour scheme of deep blues and golds, finished off with a striking mural; cosy up with your loved one while the woodburning stove nearby crackles and fills the space with a warming ambience. From here, make your way to the sleek shower room; fitted with quality fixtures and another awe-inducing mural, you can freshen up in style before heading out for the day. Outside, mature gardens welcome you to enjoy dining alfresco or simply to enjoy your morning coffee in the garden; with a patio and picture-perfect views, the outdoor space is the cherry on top of this sumptuous offering. When you are ready to get out and explore, why not head into the town centre for a day of discovering the local eateries and pubs; the aforementioned The Forest Side Restaurant is just a short walk away, but if you prefer somethig more casual then there are two local pubs just a short walk away. Or why not have a night in and stock up at the nearby shop in the town centre. Being located in the Lake District National Park means there is an abundance for outdoor activity to try your hand at, such as cycling, hiking and kayaking, while history buffs will not be left short either, with Rydal Mount & Gardens within reach, and the National Trust's Wray Castle to explore. Challenge yourself to a long day of climbing Scafell Pike, among plenty of other beautiful mountains, or take yourself back to childhood with a visit to The World of Beatrix Potter, which is slightly further afield, accessed via a peaceful drive through pretty scenery. Choose Wisteria for a fantastic holiday in this alluring area.

About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
