We found the house cosy and warm loved the gas fire ,and so refreshing to have lovely crockery from Denby instead of the usual ikea , the kitchen and bathroom are excellent , loads of hot water nice white company and molten brown toiletries and diffusers .
Lots of positives ,but unfortunately the view from the dining room and the outside seating area is ruined by the house behind Bert’s ,it looks derelict and you look out on a rusted old container ,all sorts of rubbish and weeds ,we only ...

Lots of positives ,but unfortunately the view from the dining room and the outside seating area is ruined by the house behind Bert’s ,it looks derelict and you look out on a rusted old container ,all sorts of rubbish and weeds ,we only realised it was occupied when three dogs started barking ,such a pity as Bert’s is so well maintained .
We were surprised during our weeks stay we didn’t receive a text or phone call from the owners as a courtesy ,there was a planned electricity cut for 6 hours on Wednesday ,it would have been nice to be asked if all was well.
Also as it’s quite remote maybe a bottle of milk would have been welcome.
But we thoroughly enjoyed Westmorland its a beautiful county ,and we would certainly revisit the area .

We are so pleased you liked Bert’s cottage, its facilities and enjoyed the glorious views of the surrounding countryside. It really is special.
The farmhouse next door is undergoing some refurbishment but that should be temporary and only a minor inconvenience.
We did monitor the planned power cut we informed you of, but felt we didn’t need to disturb you as we knew everything was back to normal within 3 hours. We did check everything was ok with the house keeper, but we’ll bear that in mind in the future.
