- We had a fabulous welcome, for Easter Day, with Easter eggs and wine and beautiful flowers. It's a fine old house, and the setting is sublime with a great view down the valley. Nearby is a stunning orchard with chairs and tables and an even better view. You can easily walk down to the river, where there's a natural pool for swimming, and little pebble beaches. The local fell walks are also excellent, up Stickle and Caw - and indeed the Coniston Fells, or (a short drive away) Crinkle Crags, ...

The local fell walks are also excellent, up Stickle and Caw - and indeed the Coniston Fells, or (a short drive away) Crinkle Crags, Bowfell etc. It's a quiet valley - not a single shop I think! The Seathwaite pub is 10 minutes' drive and very good. All in all, we loved this and would love to return.
