    “The cottage was not clean.”

Cobwebs, dead spiders, dead flies on the kitchen window sills. Surfaces were dusty, floors not clean and light switches and door frames dirty. The only cleaning materials at the property were washing up liquid and bleach. Towels provided were very small, tea towels were old and "grubby". The bath tap constantly dripped hot water, although this was fixed on day 2. Later on the 2nd day we ran out of hot water ( after one bath), and the following morning there was still no hot water. The bath tap constantly dripped hot water, although this was fixed on day 2. Later on the 2nd day we ran out of hot water ( after one bath), and the following morning there was still no hot water. We decided to leave early, and did not use the contact number provided to notify them until later in the day. Primarily because we had a dogs with us, and would have needed to be out of the premises whilst a deep clean was done. Very disappointed as this short break was to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the location, Keld, was lovely.

Thank you for your feedback. The spin you have put on the sequence of events is misleading and so I have to question the veracity of all your comments. It is also a clear outlier. This what actually happened: 1. You arrived on Monday 12th, I received no message from you about the house not being clean or towels or a leaky tap. 2. On Tuesday you text me at 8.12 am to say you could not shut off the hot water tap over the bath. This was dealt with very quickly and the maintenance man Morris said he would be there before 11 am and you said you would be out after 10am. He has keys but in the event you were still in when he arrived earlier. 3. A washer was replaced on the tap and you were advised of this by text at 11.06. At no time whilst you were texting me or speaking to Morris directly did you mention cleaning or towels, just that you had noticed some water leak in on the kitchen step which Morris also checked, It was a small splash. 4.I turned on the hot water via the Hive system for 4 hours on my phone and to come on again later on that day for another 2 hours. So far as I was aware all was fine. 5. You then texted me on Wednesday at 14.35 to say you had left because there was no hot water. You also said it had gone cold just before you retired, but you did not let me know then. If you had I could have given you the code for the store room and you could have tuned on the immersion heater to tide over until Morris came back the nest day. Again no mention of cleaning or towels, the store room contains lots of towels and cleaning stuff. 6.I immediately contacted Morris and he said he could be at the house in 30mins to investigate and I suggested that to you . I said it was strange that the Hive was showing water was on suggesting it maybe something else but you did not reply or accept that offer. 7. The cleaner was asked to report today when she visited after you left and your review as you did not mention anything before to me or Morris . She found no dead flies (not surprising in January) and found two small cobwebs. It was last cleaned when the previous visitors who have left a 5 star review left so about a week before you arrived, spiders can build webs during that time. You had a brand new tea towel and an older one with a very small orange stain on which you may have used. You had a bath towel and hand towel for each visitor the same as everyone else. You also had cleaning stuff the same as other visitors including a spray cleaner. In short if you do not raise a problem it cannot be resolved. I cannot understand why if as you allege the house was not clean especially knowing you were going to be out on Tuesday you did not say anything whatsoever about cleaning or towels before hand to me or Morris or Sykes when you had ample opportunity to do so.
