    “We know the northern end of the Lake District well but had not previously explored the southern end.”

    Kents Bank made a very convenient base, and the apartment provided comfortable accommodation for our needs. It is spacious, quiet, private and very well equipped and furnished. Comfy beds, big fluffy towels, masses of wardrobe space, easy to use appliances. Communications were excellent - thanks in particular to the owners and to Sykes for warning us of a local road closure (although it did not affect access to Kents Bank House). Tim from The Dobsons agency was just packing up when we ...

    Kents Bank made a very convenient base, and the apartment provided comfortable accommodation for our needs. It is spacious, quiet, private and very well equipped and furnished. Comfy beds, big fluffy towels, masses of wardrobe space, easy to use appliances. Communications were excellent - thanks in particular to the owners and to Sykes for warning us of a local road closure (although it did not affect access to Kents Bank House). Tim from The Dobsons agency was just packing up when we arrived and gave a lot of useful advice - including recommending a visit to Ulverston, which is delightfully quirky. Grange over Sands is charming, and very friendly (well, we are in the North here...). Particular recommendations - Higginsons butchers, Fletchers' greengrocers, Choco-Lori. The walk into town is a bit longer and more strenuous than we anticipated - but the train brings you back practically to the doorstep!

The village of Allithwaite is a short journey away and is the ideal base whilst staying in Cumbria, it has the essential shop and a pub serving food. This area of Cumbria is nothing short of special, with the two pretty places of Cartmel and Grange-over-Sands offering a wider choice of amenities as well as walks and beautiful buildings. If you want to venture a little further, the Lake District National Park is within easy reach, offering seemingly endless walking and cycling paths with incredible scenery and wildlife to see. 8 Kents Bank house is a high quality apartment in a beautiful location.

The lovely village of Allithwaite is idyllically located on the southern edge of the Cartmel Peninsula, at the edges of the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Described as being “set like a jewel in a cloak of green”, this village provides a shop, and a local pub serving food. The historic village of Cartmel, renowned as the prettiest in the Lake District, is just 1 mile away, and boasts charming streamside walks, quaint cobbled streets littered with antique shops, traditional pubs and the acclaimed Michelin Star-awarded L'Enclume restaurant. It is also home to the famous priory and racecourse. The picturesque Edwardian seaside resort of Grange-over-Sands is also within 2 miles and features a traffic-free promenade, delightful ornamental gardens, a choice of golf courses and excellent birdwatching opportunities.
