“I had a lovely stay at Pine Cottage.”
The cottage has all the facilities you need. The bed in the main room was very comfortable and the bedroom decoration was light and fresh. The shower pressure was just perfect and there were lots of towels available. I had great weather so didn’t get to utilise the fire, but you have everything you need if you want the fire on. The kitchen has all the necessities, kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, oven, plates, mugs, cutlery etc. There is a nice selection of books ...
There is a nice selection of books available in the living room and the high street has a borrow a book service too. The cottage is suitable for a dog, but as downstairs is quite snug I’d say a medium dog. You’d need to be careful letting the dog out in the courtyard as the alley way leads directly to the high street so they could make a run for it! There is a field behind the high street which is great for letting a dog off for a run around. To find the cottage is quite simple, once you are in the main high street, look for the pink house and there is a white semi circle painted on the ground where you can quickly park up and unload. To the left of the pink house is a little alley way which leads to a small court yard and the cottage is on your left. There is a parking permit in the house for Joss Lane just up the road which is really handy. If you’re looking to eat locally, the Dalesman isn’t suitable for dogs but the Black Bull and Red Lion is, and the shops allow you to take a dog in. I had two lovely meals in the Red Lion. Delicious food, reasonably priced and Hannah’s customer service can’t be faulted. The Haddock Paddock is a good chip shop, but you might need to plan when you’re going as they only open for two hours in the evening. The cottage is about 20-25 minutes from Kendal and 40-45 minutes from Ambleside. There are buses that run to Kendal and a good local taxi service is On Time Taxis. All in all, I had a lovely stay and would be back again in a heartbeat.
