“We were delighted to find this cottage as a last minute stay in the Lake District.”

The location is brilliant for exploring the whole Lake District and it is only 5 minutes from South Windermere and Fell Foot. The cottage was very clean and exactly as described. The kitchen was well stocked and functional. The beds were comfy and the 3rd smaller bedroom with a normal sized single bed could easily suit an adult. The sitting room was comfortable with some games and books and plenty of space for our family of 5 and pooch. I almost didn’t book this cottage as some reviews I ...

I almost didn’t book this cottage as some reviews I read were not that favourable, however our experience was wonderful. We parked our car in the allocated driveway/parking space next to the house and could barely hear any traffic noise when sitting in the garden - the cottage itself is set at a reasonable distance from the main road for traffic noise not to be a nuisance, and the roads in front of the house were quiet. We would definitely book this again as we had a wonderful family holiday using the cottage as our base. I would highly recommend.

About the location

NEWBY BRIDGE

Bowness-on-Windermere 8 miles.

The small village of Newby Bridge takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, plus the picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and admire the views at nearby Gummer's How.
