“We arrived after Storm Arwen and had no electricity for 4 days.”

We alerted Sykes to the situation at day 2 and 4. Although we were offered an alternative property on day 4 we decided to stay and not have the hassle of booking and paying for another cottage and getting a refund on the rest of our stay at Bobbin Beck. We had 1 functional log burner which kept us warm and allowed us to cook (kitchen log burner not drawing for some reason). We had our own head torches. Ones at the cottage had low / no batteries. Despite this the cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and we enjoyed our stay. The owner kindly agreed to reimburse us for extra fuel used for log burner. Neighbour also very friendly and helpful. Great walks from the cottage, really lovely stay. Would definitely visit again

“Loved the cottage but one or two little niggles The internet worked fine until Wednesday and then kept dropping out, annoying as we were using it for communication as there is no mobile service The description re parking was a little misleading - had to cross over the road and a bridge to get to parking space.”

Also not easy to park anywhere to load and unload car - just grateful it wasn't raining.

Loved the beck at the bottom of the garden and pretty waterfalls just a few yards upstream. Only minor inconvenience was having to park in a layby across the bridge and walk through the neighbour,s garden to get to the cottage, fortunately he was very friendly!

In a remote location - didn’t bother us but worth thinking about if you want to walk to a pub / restaurant.

An opening into the second living area with leather relaxing furnishings set on original slate flags with sumptuous rugs by a second woodburner, there are two window seats and views over the garden towards the river, what a relaxing space for a cosy night in. On this level is a useful utility room housing the washing machine and freezer. Upstairs to the bedrooms and bathrooms; the master king size bedroom complete with beamed vaulted ceiling and en-suite shower room and then the twin bedroom also with the vaulted beamed ceiling and soothing sound of the flowing river. There is also a single bedroom. The house bathroom has a double ended bath and invigorating power shower cubicle. Outside the riverside garden is a true delight with patio and furniture, what a great place to unwind and with direct access via steps into the river for paddling but please be vigilant at all times with young children.
