“The space was huge and the kitchen/living area was perfect for a big group.”

There were lots of cutlery, plates, etc. The beds were very comfortable, good access to travel cots and high chairs, plenty of parking, and it is in a good location. We just had a couple of teething issues: The fuse board tripped and wasn’t accessible for us to switch back on. The Wi‑Fi in the barn didn’t work and was weak in the “cottages,” which made things difficult when using baby monitors. I don’t think the description of the layout of the 8 bedrooms is 100% clear, which made it slightly more difficult for us as a group with lots of small children. There are only 3 bedrooms in the main house that are accessed through the main door: one upstairs and two on the ground floor just off the living space. There is one bathroom that serves these 3 bedrooms. Two other en‑suite bedrooms are accessed by going outside onto the courtyard, and each of these has its own separate entrance. The barn (with the hot tub) is a completely detached building towards the back of the garden. It is not far away, but it may not be suitable if you want to put younger children to bed without leaving the main house yourself. Two bedrooms in the barn are part of the same space, with another bedroom having its own separate entrance. It was all very lovely and spacious, and would be perfect for adult groups or those with older children.

Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the space, especially the large kitchen and living area, and that it worked well for your group. It’s great to know the beds were comfortable, the parking and location suited you, and that the extra items like travel cots, high chairs, and plenty of kitchenware were useful. Thank you as well for your feedback especially about the bedroom layout. We appreciate you pointing out that the description could be clearer, especially for groups with younger children. We’ll review the listing to ensure the layout and access arrangements are explained more explicitly so future guests can plan accordingly. We’re really pleased that overall you found the property lovely and spacious, and we truly value the constructive feedback — it helps us improve. Kindest Regards Julie Property Owner

About the location

DALTON-IN-FURNESS

Ulverston 5 miles.

The ancient town of Dalton-in-Furness lies in a narrow valley on that part of the Furness Peninsula which extends deep into Morecambe Bay. Once the leading town of Furness, Dalton has a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. The architecture of the town includes some interesting buildings in and around the market place, as well as an elegant Victorian drinking fountain, the market cross and slabs of stone used for fish drying in the 19th century. The 14th-century pele tower, known as Dalton Castle, was originally a place of refuge for the monks of nearby Furness Abbey, an impressive sandstone ruin nestling in a peaceful wooded valley. Within easy reach of the town are the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, the world's only Laurel and Hardy museum at Ulverston and the Haventhwaite Steam Railway which runs to Lakeside, where you can board a steam train for Bowness or Ambleside. Just north of Dalton-in-Furness is the stunning Duddon Estuary and Duddon Valley, with Cartmel, Holker Hall and Grizedale Forest within easy reach. Situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, and surrounded by mountains and beaches, this area is ideal for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.
