“Brilliant location for a week’s walking holiday with the dog around the Langdale Pikes area.”

We found lots of long circular walks, (using the OS app and Instagram) from the doorstep. We did fell walks and lower level walks on alternate days. We got to the top of Loughrigg, and Lingmoor Fell. Weather defeated us on only one day, when we only made it up to Stickle Tarn rather than the top of Harrison Stickle as planned. Gentler walks around Elterwater, Skelwith Bridge, Ambleside, Grasmere and Rydal Water - all round we had a wonderful and memorable holiday. The cottage was a comfortable ...

The cottage was a comfortable base to relax in, with a kitchen well equipped enough for us to cook a recipe box meal at the end of most days. We hope to return.. next time maybe we’ll manage a proper mountain.
