Fabulous location, view and comfort - we've enjoyed walking Wansfell Pike and Troutbeck and few visits to the Queen Head and Mortal Man. Love this slightly isolated spot but with good access to the rest of the Lakes. I the weather is good, no need to get the car. Enjoyed the well stocked kitchen, Thank you plus we loved the quirks such as hidden cupboards and shelves.

“Lovely Cottage and really well equipped - nice welcome pack and thoughtful accessories left for the dog!”

The weather was slightly challenging but we still enjoyed the lakes as always. Visits included Whinlatter Forest, Dodd Wood (even saw the Ospreys), Castle Head view point over Keswick and Catsbells, Coniston and Grasmere. We definitely recommend Baldy's tea room in Grasmere and the Copper Pot in Ambleside - both are fabulous! Really enjoy enjoyed seeing the wildlife right up to the front window - birds including Robins, Great Tit and Blue Tits.

“Arrived to find a wonderful little cottage.”

It has very nice decor and had everything we needed for a fabulous week stay. The weather has been fantastic all week for us. THis was our first saty in Troutbeck and it has been so peaceful. Visited both the Queens Head and The Mortal Man for a meal out; both of these were great. Lots of walking done during our stay. Managed to do Wansfell and Inbell from the cottage itsself and Orrest Head (Fantastic views), Langdale Pikes and Bowfell, Crinkle Craggs, Haystacks, Fleetwith pike (Great view to Buttermere and Crummock Water) Very sad to be leaving as we love to come to The Lkaes and always come every year Back soon

“Lovely, comfortable, attractive cottage for two and a dog.”

Our second time in Trooutbeck, we love it, so peaceful - two great pubs and a great base for walks- we did Helvellyn from Grasmere, Place Fell from Patterdale, Wansfell Pike to Ambleside plus Coniston to Little Langdale via Wetherlam. Weather hot and sunny with some rain at the end of the week

You are surrounded by fabulous walking territory and only 450 yards away from an excellent pub serving hearty meals and local ale, within easy reach of a well-stocked shop and never too far from the stunning shores of Lake Windermere. Perfect! == Accommodation in detail Park your vehicle outside your cottage and wander through the patio garden into an entrance porch. From here you enter a living space designed for relaxation, the multicoloured furnishings are set on a slated floor with sumptuous rug by the warming woodburning stove; the designer kitchen is open to this space and has it all complete with boiling water tap! Leaving the heavily beamed downstairs up to the suggestive super king size bedroom and separate dressing room. Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life.
