“We found the house to be comfortably large, sufficient space to spread out so you could have your own space.”

The garden was lovely, Oliver would have loved it. The main issue we had was the upstairs floors, the floor boards are very loud, some are loose and outside them main bedroom they seriously dip causing a trip hazard. When anyone was up through the night the whole house was awake, very noisy when you were downstairs as well if someone was walking around upstairs. Main bathroom loo was also loose, meaning it was not used in case someone had an accident. Showers could do with slip mats so older ...

Showers could do with slip mats so older people are not afraid of falling in the shower. These points need to be sorted so people paying to stay can enjoy a relaxing safe holiday. The main house was very comfortable facilities were great, the house was very spacious. We will not be going back however as the roads to and from the house are a nightmare, very narrow, but very busy, constantly having to reverse to try and locate passing points, not great when in a large car trying to pass tractors and HGV's.

Hi Judith , Regarding your feedback we would respond as follows, The property is over 75 years old and we do have and would expect to have the odd creaking floorboard The cistern was slightly loose not the WC Pan itself and this has no been tightened and is fine, this would not have prevented the use of the WC. With regards to the slip mats for the three showers these were provided , however i have personally replaced all three with new ones as the one in question was missing. With regards to the roads and access to and from the property the main bridges to Underbarrow and Brigsteer from Kendal are currently closed for repair and as a consequence there has been a very slight increase in traffic in what is a very rural part of the Lake District where traffic is normally very light and infrequent. The cottage is located in the Lake District where tractors and farm equipment are common place so I would urge caution when travelling on these or any country roads. The roads in and around Underbarrow are not particularly narrow and indeed are capable as you suggest of handling HGVs and large farm equipment. Please be advised that your comments regarding the roads, are quite different to the multitude of other guests who have stayed at Ellerbeck Bridge and had wonderful holidays. Property Owner
