Ellerbeck Bridge

The house was amazing, it had everything you needed and more.

The location was perfect for getting to the lovely towns and villages around the lakes. The Black Labrador pub which is a two minute walk from the house is a must.

Great stay, very cosy and spacious.

A little t&c needed in the main shower and flooring in large bedroom. We thoroughly enjoyed and the downstairs is fabulous.

An excellent place for a family stay with great access to the southern lakes.

Very comfortable with good facilities. Many good places to eat very close. Dissapointingly nowwhere to put recycling. Heating was good but difficult to control in each room, the TCVs on each radiator need servicing or changing. The fan in the ensuite bathroom didn't work and this caused the bedroom to get condensation. The battery in the smoke detector ran out and there was no contact number to get it replaced. This is a general failing with Sykes, no contact number and contact email address unattended, if there is a problem. This all didn't detract from the great stay we had and we would return.

Lovely week had in Ellerbeck Bridge, lovely cottage and garden.

Didn't get to meet owners and no welcome pack which was slightly disappointing compared to the last Sykes cottage we visited. Bit of mould in the bathrooms but otherwise would recommend. Near by pub is excellent and cottage is a fantastic base, close to the lakes, a stunning area to explore.

It's a lovely spot in a quiet village by a running stream which is very relaxing.

The place is much larger than it seems on the photos even with 6 adults and one child. Well equipped and very cosy. The only thing we'd suggest would be to bring the check in time slightly earlier as 4pm is fairly late, but there's a lovely pub round the corner you can wait for it to open up. We'd not hesitate to stay again and found it excellent value

This was just perfect!

We were a family of 8 with a dog, the house is very spacious and very clean. The kitchen is very well equipped and had all we needed. The garden and outside areas are very well maintain loads of space. We thoroughly had a great stay and highly recommend.

One of the finest experiences I had, very professional service, perfect for holidays, good location and everything was as described.

Lovely house, something to enjoy indoor and outdoor, it was more sort of home away from home. Would recommend!

Plenty of room and all the beds were very comfortable. Great Pub just around the corner - The Black Labrador. This is a lovely area of the country to visit.

Absolutely lovely house, we didn't want to leave.

Very clean on arrival although I tried to hoover with the shark vacuum before leaving and it didn't suck at all. We were a family of 7 and we were not cramped up at all, lots of space for us to spread out. I would like to point out a few things, the main shower upstairs needs plunging as it was backing up into shower tray, also I have small dogs and they got out of the side gate, I had to lay green wheelie bin in front of it so they couldn't get out, ( I forgot to put it back on grass sorry) ,also a grab rail at side door would help as its quite a big step and my parents struggled to get in/out. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely home, very spacious with a cosy lounge.

A steam runs by the side of the house and the garden is not overlooked, plenty of space to sit out. Ample parking space for 4 to 5 cars. A large selection of games provided.

Ellerbeck Bridge is a fantastic property, equipped with everything you would need.

The garden is exceptional, with pheasants and other bird life galore. The village pub is a must, meals were excellent. Would definitely stay again.

Great place for a family gathering, loads of downstairs space, well equipped kitchen. Issue with heating promptly sorted, good communication. Would recommend.

We found the house to be comfortably large, sufficient space to spread out so you could have your own space.

The garden was lovely, Oliver would have loved it. The main issue we had was the upstairs floors, the floor boards are very loud, some are loose and outside them main bedroom they seriously dip causing a trip hazard. When anyone was up through the night the whole house was awake, very noisy when you were downstairs as well if someone was walking around upstairs. Main bathroom loo was also loose, meaning it was not used in case someone had an accident. Showers could do with slip mats so older people are not afraid of falling in the shower. These points need to be sorted so people paying to stay can enjoy a relaxing safe holiday. The main house was very comfortable facilities were great, the house was very spacious. We will not be going back however as the roads to and from the house are a nightmare, very narrow, but very busy, constantly having to reverse to try and locate passing points, not great when in a large car trying to pass tractors and HGV's.

A great property in a beautiful location.

It was big enough that we didn't feel overcrowded with 5 adults and 3 children. The Black Labrador pub 2 minutes away was fab and really friendly. Simon the owner had phoned before we had arrived to say the cleaner had informed him of a problem with the TV. We checked this for him when we got there and confirmed. He had replaced it by the Saturday morning. All in all a lovely stay.

Ellerbeck bridge was beautiful, slight issue when we first arrived, but the owner of the property solved this for us very quickly!

The children enjoyed playing the countless games that are in the house, would definately reccomend and hope to return, thankyou

The cottage is furnished to a good standard and its location is good for local walking, food and visiting.

The American fridge let us down badly, reading 5 degrees on arrival, then 19 degrees by Tuesday. It was reported to Lakelovers on Thursday of our visit week, after noticing foods were no longer fresh, losing about £25 worth. No compensation and no feedback regarding maintenance visit!? Not what was expected! Bedrooms are nicely kept although the shower tray in the main bathroom kept filling up with water when showering. Does the filter need a thorough clean? The kitchen has a good range of utensils and the Harry Potter game and walking books were appreciated.

A superb property.

We had a wonderful holiday in our home-from-home at Ellerbeck Bridge.

The property is very spacious and the layout downstairs is great for socialising and enjoying time with your special people. It was very clean and really well equipped. No issues parking our cars on the driveway and it was ideally situated for exploring the Lakes. Really glad we found it.

Holiday was let down badly by hot water problem which was not sorted in the final 3 days of our stay.

Scores would have been higher had this been rectified in timely efficiency manner.

Lovely home only complaint would be the bathroom looks beautiful but not very user friendly the bath is a nightmare to get out of as only a tiny step quite dangerous when wet and very slippy and the shower looks amazing but we all struggled with it apart from that the place is fantastic

Great spacious cottage for us all to enjoy.

Beautiful location. 1 downfall that was off putting- horrid smell in the porch/downstairs toilet. Standing water smell. As it was the first thing you experienced when walking into the property, or when coming downstairs in the morning this was a shame.

This is a beautiful home from home property which has been thoughtfully decorated and equipped.

The garden is also a delight and brightly planted. Great WiFi, games, heating system, car parking and multiple spaces to relax. Ideally located to Lake District towns, villages and attractions. Brilliant local walks and further afield. The Black Labrador pub selling real ale and homecooked food is next door. We loved our family stay and have booked again for next year. We had a couple of maintenance issues which we left a note about but they did not spoil our experience. Thank you.

Wonderful cottage, great location and every amenity we could need.

Plenty of room for the whole family, who all loved it - including the dogs. Very clean, everything in really good repair and lots of thoughtful things (games, air fryer, washing machine and dishwasher) to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Really effective heating throughout, although we couldn't seem to set it to a constant level (our shortcoming) and there was always ample hot water.. Found the sofa and chairs in the living room too soft and low for our taste, otherwise no complaints at all. We were all agreed that we would happily return another time.

Myself, my daughter and two grandchildren came to Ellerbeck Bridge for a short weekend and what a joy the cottage is.

Spacious, clean and cozy. An ideal base for exploring the Lakes and yet if you didn’t fancy going anywhere there are plenty of things to do. A wide variety of board games available to make fun with, jigsaws etc. We are seriously considering coming back maybe next summer sometime. Thank you very much.

This is a great family property in a great location!

There is everything you require for a great home from home property and the cottage is well equipped and well furnished. Had seen previous comments about the dishwasher not working, however the owners have now replaced this (in October 23) so it was brand new when we stayed! Bedrooms (and beds) are very comfortable and having more than 1 bathroom/shower is great. The garden area is lovely with lots of bird tables and feeders which were all full on our arrival (not sure whether this was from the previous guests or whether these are topped up by the caretakers!). The local pub is just round the corner and we can highly recommend! We did have one minor issue during our stay which I fed back to the owners directly and they responded immediately to say they would look into it. Overall this is a brilliant property and I would definitely book again if we were visiting the area in future.

Great house, comfy beds, lovely bathrooms & v good facilities except for the dishwasher which wasn't working properly.

It didn't heat up. We noticed that previous guests had reported this fault too. All the TV's & aerial booster were off when we arrived. It was frustrating, no information was given but we found the switches eventually & the main lounge TV had someone's Prime account logged on which we couldn't log out of. Despite these frustrations we had a lovely time, the garden was great for the dogs & bbqs. Good information on local walks & the Black Labrador pub was excellent.

The house is beautiful, decorated lovely and has a great garden.

Even the children loved this house. The fridge wasn’t cleaned properly neither the bath or filters in the showers which caused a back up of water. The filter in the dishwasher was also clogged with mould and food. We cleaned this ourselves. Other than that it is a great place to stay and after I asked if there were any family games in the property and were told no we had a great surprise of several boxes of games which we had plenty of fun with and we even managed to finish the Harry Potter impossible 1000 piece puzzle. Overall a great place to stay. Would definitely stay there again. Thanks for a great holiday.

Great holiday home for a family gathering.

Plenty of space with the two dogs. Loved the large garden. Shame the weather was a bit mixed later in the week so we couldn’t sit out every evening. The local pub was excellent and just a short walk. Will definitely be back!

Everything was great, great property, nicely furnished and garden with creek is also very nice.

We certainly enjoyed our stay and will most likely be back next year. In the listing, I would recommend to list the downstairs bathroom as well or make sure Syke agent know this detail when asked.

Cottage ideal for our family group & 2 dogs. Very warm, comfortable beds, spacious garden area & kitchen well equipped. One or two minor loose fittings which need attention & we left a note for the cleaner to pass on to the owner. Well situated for visiting Central Lakes & surrounding area. We would certainly use the cottage again in the future.

Superb location - green views from every window. Great welcome package. We spent New Year's Eve at the cottage and loved every minute. We'll be back!

We had a wonderful weekend of pre Christmas celebrations with the family.

The property is beautiful and comfortable with a spacious lounge and a great kitchen. The cottage has a great "home away from home" feel and we certanly felt like being at home. We were lucky it had snowed which made the icing on the cake as felt really Christmassy!

Fantastic house.

Very spacious and comfortable. Living area great to relax in the evenings. Beds comfortable. Nice, safe garden for the dog to play in. A few essentials would have been a nice welcoming touch, tea, coffee, sugar etc.

Loads of car-parking and garden space. Fantastic pub just round the corner that is extremely dog friendly complete with Dog Menu.

House was fantastic.

Location was really gorgeous. Facilities just as advertised. Only slight complaint was that place required cleaning on our arrival. The worktop surfaces needed cleaned with wipes as we have young children and it didn’t look to have been done prior to our arrival. High chair could do with a top on it for balancing food. A small welcome pack such as bread and milk would have been appreciated as we had to go looking for these essential items as soon as we arrived. A stair gate would also be beneficial as we had to bring our own for top of stairs. Other than these issues which I do have to say we’re minor details the house was great. The pass for access to the swimming pool down the road was a really nice touch and kids loved it. We would definitely stay again and would happily recommend to anyone else.

Ellerbeck Bridge cottage was lovely

We really enjoyed our stay here as 6 adults and a puppy.

There was plenty of space for all of us with the house and the outdoor space at the back was great for letting our pup out. The pub down the road is an excellent place to eat and the area is lovely and quiet so a nice place for a relax. The house was very clean and has all the amenities required for a stay such as dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer etc. Most places were within a 15-20 minute drive away that we went to so if you don't mind making the drive then this would be a fine place to stay!

Lovely comfortable property.

Great pub almost next door. Would happily stay here again. Only negatives: Leaky kitchen tap Downstairs toilet would improve the facilities. Also, description mentions 1 bedroom is en-suite which is slightly misleading as the bedroom has a shower but no toilet.

We had a fabulous stay at Ellerbeck bridge .

The cottage is beautiful very spacious. extremely comfortable .The kitchen is very well equipped .The cottage is cosy and we loved Lighting the fire in the evenings . The beds were so comfortable .Fantastic nights sleep had by all. We took our small dog with us point to note Dogs need to be supervised in the garden as gaps in the gate leading to the stream our small dog managed to get through the gate . Luckily she came straight back when called . We had a family ranging from 78 down to 2 . We all loved the cottage and will definitely return . We had a problem with the heating and we contacted the owner who managed to get it sorted as soon as possible. The cottage is in a lovely location Ideal to relax. we managed to explore the local area. Pub needs to be booked as even in January it was full. We had a meal in the wheatsheaf pub 5 minute drive away fantastic food. We enjoyed playing some of the many games that where provided in the cottage . Cant wait to return again soon .

This was our 3rd Christmas at Ellerbeck, and once again we had a truly wonderful stay!

(Even though sadly, our French contingent couldn't join us, owing to the new restrictions). The cottage is so comfortable and cosy, always nicely decorated, and the layout, with two living rooms, suits larger, multi-generational groups perfectly. We absolutely love it there, and always have the best Christmasses! One thing I would mention though, which did impact on our stay a bit - the thermostatic valves on the radiators don't work, so the radiators have to be either off, or on full blast (almost too hot too touch). The house is therefore either cold, or far too hot. Thank you for your most warm welcome - the bottles of wine, chocolates and biscuits were greatly appreciated!

Excellent location with easy access to Kendal and the South Lakes.

We particularly enjoyed the 3 different public spaces which worked really well for 4 adults and 3 children (3 generations). Outdoor space with an abundance of wildlife also enjoyed. The kitchen and utility room were well equipped. Points for other customers to note. No downstairs toilet which for young children (2-7) wasn’t ideal. Also, hallway/front door and passage from kitchen to utility to lounge were very congested at times. Overall, a very good property and we had a great time.

All of us found the accommodation and facilities more than acceptable.

We had a very comfortable stay. The house was well placed for getting out and exploring the area.

The only reason I have marked the comfort down is because the week we stayed was incredibly hot.

The cottage retains the heat and very difficult to get away from. Fans would have been much appreciated.

Fabulous cottage in a peaceful location.

The space in the cottage was wonderful for our family group and little dog. Perhaps, would have been good to include a downstairs WC, due to the size of the house and add some slats or chicken wire to the fence at the stream to prevent runaway pets. All in all could not recommend the property highly enough. Well done to the owner and Sykes.

Spacious holiday cottage in a beautiful setting, overlooking fields and next to a stream which the dogs loved.

The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. Lots of local walks and a handy pub 2 min away with great food. (Book ahead for evening meals to guarantee a table) We were so lucky to have a week of fantastic weather so enjoyed breakfast on the patio every morning and in the evenings watched a couple of young owls on the roof at sunset. This was our first visit to the south lakes, it may not be as dramatic scenery as the north but it is really beautiful and the cottage was the perfect base to explore.

It needs a little bit of freshening up in places. It would also benefit from a washing line to avoid people having to use the tumble dryer and using extra electricity. During our stay the microwave broke, which didn’t cause a massive issue but we notified Sykes cottages immediately but didn’t hear anything from them. I do find it disappointing that a cottage is advertised as dog friendly and then on arrival you are told they have to stay downstairs, if this is the case it should be made clear before booking. It is either dog friendly or it isn’t. Had a lovely week and really enjoyed our stay

The cottage and location are brilliant.

The only comment is that if we’d known there was no washing airier & pegs ( maybe due to covid), we could have brought something.

Lovely holiday home in a quiet location, Ideal for cyclists, walkers or anyone just wanting to relax.

The facilities were well equipped and there was plenty of room inside and in the garden. After the year we've all just had, it was just what we needed to recharge and forget about the pandemic for the week. Can't recommend highly enough. With respect to the pandemic, we received fantastic support and guidance from Sykes Cottages.

The cottage is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The local pub is a 2 minute walk away and the food is delicious.

such a lovely cottage, which far surpassed our expectations. It had everything you could possibly need for a family of eight, plus our puppy. It had beautiful gardens, and several patios, with plenty of garden furniture so we could eat 'al fresco'. It had everything you needed for a family of eight. Although quite isolated, it was a short journey to other parts of the beautiful South Lakes.

Our stay at Ellerbeck Bridge was fantastic.

The property was even better in person. Sykes customer service team were excellent, they were easy to contact and they made sure we were happy with everything during our stay.

We enjoyed a very comfortable week in the cottage.

Very comfy beds and lovely fluffy towels. Cottage was very well equipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment and plenty of hot water. Disappointed that there was no DVD player only a dvd controller. Would have be very useful as we were there during storm Ciara!!! There is a log burner with two log baskets but no logs! The gate to a fast running brook does not fasten and kept blowing open!!! The heating appears to have a problem the cottage gets very hot particularly upstairs. Radiators do not respond to being turned down.
