“The place was absolutely amazing for a large group of people.”

We loved that we all had our own self contained rooms that we could go to as well as the communal areas. The upstairs lounge area was nice area and would have been good to be able to sit together to watch a film. The dining area was good too. We loved it and would go back again

“Wep were a family party of 18 people of all ages we found that the main kitchen area was not set up for large parties, such h as ours?”

It was a disadvantage to us that the sitting room was up 2 flights of stairs, not easy for carrying drinks in for those with mobility difficulties . The compartments were good, on the whole, although some of the showers only produced a trickle of water! Also some of the shower doors were badly in need of maintenance. Even so we all enjoyed our stay in this large property in such lovely surroundings. When it wasn't raining we liked to congregate in the courtyard

“What a wonderful time we had celebrating our 20th anniversary.”

Would have only been improved with warmer weather. Each couple having their own space to relax and sort their own breakfast/lunch was perfect for our large group of family and friends. Then coming together in the evening in the large social spaces made this a holiday we will never forget. Perfect for the 4 dogs with us too. Once the gates were shut they were free to wander around in safety. We all enjoyed it so much we are discussing returning in the future.

“Our party of 19 adults and 4 dogs were really impressed with Wolfen Mill.”

Each room had its own lounge and kitchen area, as well as a large lounge area upstairs, with fabulous views of the lake. The central dining room is huge and meant that we could all eat together comfortably. We were lucky enough to have good weather, and had some fantastic walks, we would also recommend the Sun Inn in the village, really nice to be able to walk to coffee shops and pubs. Would like to visit again.

“Wolfen Mill well what to say- nothing negative that's for sure.”

We were a party of 15 celebrating 4 special birthdays 18 21 50 and 70 and 4 dogs. As soon as we arrived we were so surprised, each apartment/suite is fantastic and much larger than expected, you won't argue over who is having which one as they are all super. The family suite is huge and my youngest grandson spent most of his time there- he loved it so much. The dining area is large and easily seats 21. We took it in turns to cook and wash up in the kitchen and didn't use our own kitchens at all apart from the odd coffee or slice of toast. The lounge (our quiet time) on the top floor is just perfect for relaxing, the sofas are super comfy, (we all fell asleep one afternoon) and the view over the lake is perfect. The hot tub was a great hit with the teenagers. There are some lovely walks from the Mill and a field at the top of the lane to exercise the dogs. Marie and Michael were very easy to communicate with-thank you both. As a family we didn't find anything to complain about and everyone said they didn't want to go home, you can't get a better recommendation than that.

“It’s a large space and would work well with a big group that has no mobility issues.”

The lounge is lovely but up two flights of stairs and sadly one of our party couldn’t make it up there so it didn’t get used. Downstairs dining room would benefit from a small sitting area. Kitchen is really for caterers and we all like to cook but it’s not a good space to cook in a social way with friends- more like a large utility room with no windows. And a terrible dishwasher! We had to use to dishwasher in the bedrooms. The place is a little tired and needs some modernisation- some bathrooms really not great. Jacuzzi nice but needs maintenance. We had a nice week but not thrilled with the accommodation.

“We had a wonderful 80th birthday celebration with 19 family members.”

The property was excellent more equipment than we needed, clean comfortable. There was a main entertainment/dining room which we made full use of and the individual suites which all led off from that area were themselves well equipped and self sufficient. Lovely area, the views from the upstairs lounge of the lake were beautiful. Hot tub an appreciated extra, also a BBQ which in better weather would be well used. Would highly recommend.

“We had a wonderful week at Wolfen Mill - 3 generations were there to celebrate 2 ‘big’ birthdays.”

The hot tub was a huge hit with the middle generation and the garden and courtyard provided plenty of space for everyone else. It was perfect having a big area to all come together for meals and games but also have our own spaces for a little R & R when needed. Each apartment was very equipped and extremely comfortable. Michael and Marie were very quick to respond to any queries we had. We would love to return at some point.

“Had a lovely week.”

The rooms worked perfectly for our group with the young adult children wanting to share and the parents getting their own space. Plenty of bathrooms for everyone. The communal dining area and kitchen area worked well. We found we tended to use the ovens and dishwashers in some of the downstairs rooms as well as the communal ones but that was fine. The courtyard area, hot tub and deck area by the lake were all lovely and well used by our group. We had a fantastic week (glorious weather) and I think it was probably the best house we have stayed in as a group in over 30 years. Thank you!

“We spent a wonderful weekend at the Wolfen Mill, is was truly a beautiful venue in a Idyllic setting.”

A lovely space for families and friends to come together. Each room was unique and lovely, we did arrive during a UK snow storm so it was a little chilly the first night but we also found extra heaters that where supplied which we were most grateful for. The space was clean and tidy and everything seems to work well and was well maintained. I was initially slightly disappointed by the size of communial kitchen space, although every room had its own lovely little kitchen we had planned to cook in one space for the whole group and the kitchen was a little tight in space but still well equipped with everything you need and we managed just fine. Overall an absolutely beautiful venue would love to return and would highly recommend. Thank you for having us.

“We had a fantastic stay at Wolfen Mill.”

The house is beautiful and set in picturesque surroundings. The rooms were big and very comfortable. We were a large group of family getting together for a special birthday and the house more than accommodated us however we didn’t really utilise the individual living spaces and wanted to convene together. The dining area was brilliant for this however the lounge area was a tad snug and had no TV. Being such a large group it was great being able to take yourself off to your own room and having that space. I would certainly recommend Wolfen Mill.

“When we arrived at Wolfen Mill, we were blown away by the whole place, the location, the studios, the grounds, and the hot tub of course.”

The beds were all very comfortable, each studio had its own personality, ideally suited to our needs, two of us are dog owners so had downstairs apartments, the large dining room and kitchen were ample for our needs nineteen of us and two dogs, we spent most of our time in the communal areas and maybe didn't make full use of the fully self contained apartments with their own kitchenette. We met Michael, the owner, who was very warm and welcoming, he gave us a couple of places to visit in nearby Clitheroe and they were excellent, as well as the village of Chipping with its lovely little farm shop. The only thing that we didn't like, and we all agreed on this, is that our little break in Wolfen Mill had to come to an end, I/we would thoroughly recommend Michael and Marie's boutique destination for any large family/friends celebration for any occasion.

“Fantastic short stay we had at Wolfen Mill.”

Location ,was superb , accomodation was comfortable and clean with a beautiful view from the top lounge ,overlooking the pond area. We were all there to celebrate my mother's passing and everybody said she would've loved it there . We made some great memories which is in large part thanks to the accomodation and setting. The accommodation is spacious and has all the facilities needed. The location was stunning and the view of the lake from the lounge area was beautiful. All communication with the owners was clear, timely and helpful. We had a wonderful time and we would highly recommend Wolfen Mill as a fantastic destination. The only issue we had was actually communication with Sykes who had not passed on messages to the owners but these were quickly sorted when we were able to have direct contact with the owner. “The house was amazing with a wonderful central dining area, easily able to accommodate our party of 26 (we had also booked Beech Cottage at the same site).”

Each apartment was beautiful and very well equipped. The garden area was wonderful, a very large, pretty and well tended garden that was secure for both children and dogs and we enjoyed many hours being entertained by the children, enjoying the surroundings and using the hot tub. The whole house was spotless and Marie and Michael were very helpful but left us to enjoy the house in peace. And it is in one of the most beautiful areas of England but so quiet. Can't recommend it enough.

“Absolutely fantastic accommodation for a large family or large group of people.”

Stunning hidden location with lots of loverly walks and things to do in the area. Had two loverly meals out in Chipping only about one mile away at The Sun and Tillotson’s Arms, both with nice real ale available and reasonably priced. Could not work out from the photos where the main lounge was with the decking and lake but was well worth the surprise when we arrived. Best family holiday accommodation we have ever had and blessed with some loverly weather which always helps.

“Honestly can’t explain how beautiful this place is.”

You can tell on photos, but in person it’s even better. Booked it for my mums surprise hen do with 20 of us so we had the whole place, and I couldn’t of wished for a better weekend. Everyone loved the place and said I couldn’t of picked a better place. The lake room is amazing, a lot of the group went up there every morning to relax while having a bru. The hot tub area is really nice with a lovely view of the whole cottage buildings. Every room was beautiful and there was more than enough space for everyone. My mum had the best weekend and that’s all I wanted. I have already said when the next person is getting married, this place will certainly be getting booked again!

“Wolfen Mill totally exceeded anything we expected.”

The accommodation is fantastic. There was nothing we would change. Our family ranged from 2 months to 85 yrs, one disabled and a dog, all accessible, even fish in the lake pleased my husband. Dressing gowns, towels, t-towels all supplied. Even hot tub towels. Everyone was catered for. The attention to detail is amazing and would love to be able to return one day. Everyone we met in the village were so helpful, and all the businesses recommended each other. The pub quiz was definitely a plus. If you are put off walking to the village, take the route to the left outside the property, small rise then just a slope all the way to the village, still a trek back up, but lovely quiet stroll. Our deposit to the landlady was returned promptly on our return. such a beautiful area. The Gibbon Bridge hotel a few miles out had fantastic food, service and amazing gardens, well worth a trip. Cannot recommend Wolfen Mill enough and would give 10 stars if we could.

Nestled in the trees and surrounded by a lake and babbling brooks, this beautiful building enabled a long awaited family reunion after covid. Our family members were all luxuriously accommodated in their own apartments whilst the communal areas allowed us to make many happy memories together whist we partied. Despite the cold weather and rain we were warm and snug and even managed a muddy walk as the landscape was so tempting!

“Beautiful large well furnished house we had all 9 apartments for our family get together to celebrated the missed birthdays due to Covid Lovely large dinning room and living room more than enough space for 20.”

The hot tub in the grounds was good and we had sole use of it as the other cottage was not let out that weekend .Fantastic family time spent doing games, dancing, cycling and just chatting really lucky to have had the time before the new 6 only rule came in. Would recommend this for anyone wanting accommodation for a large group as we all had our own bath/shower rooms and kitchens but used the catering kitchen for breakfast and dinners. Just had a fabulous time.

The property

Built in the 16th century, this old water powered mill has now become a luxurious and unique holiday accommodation, set within an acre of luscious grounds not far from the village of Chipping in Lancashire, Wolfen Mill will impress everyone who visits with its high-quality furnishings and decor.

The mill closed production in the 1920s and was a manufacturer of spindles and bobbins for the local spinning mills.

It undertook its charming renovations in 2018 to transform into award-winning accommodation, where a larger group can find the perfect spot to come together with a vast amount of space for all, you will be able to truly relax.

Also a haven for wildlife, the dam or millrace provides a great spot for nature to flourish with views of Parlick Pike able to be marvelled at.

Beginning with the hub of this maze of beautiful rooms, the top-floor sitting room has ample plush seating and bi-fold doors that open out onto the decked area overlooking the water, creating a tranquil ambience as the sun sets.

A huge dining room on the ground floor will host a large group of 22 with the ability to squeeze a few more in if needs be; celebrate a special occasion with all of your loved ones and drink to your wonderful holiday.

Enjoy a cooling beverage on the patio while the food is catered to in the commercial kitchen, whether you have put one of the family to work or hired an external chef, they will love using the extensive range of appliances in this professional space.

A further two kitchens are on this floor if you are wanting to prepare something different to the rest, or maybe a surprise treat.

Set up as individual suites, the bedrooms come with their own sitting areas, kitchenettes and bathroom suites, an incredible layout giving you the chance to spend time apart from the larger group in your own space.

There is plenty of entertainment for you in the form of an LG High Definition Freeview LCD TV which has the benefits of all your favourite streaming services including Amazon Prime and Netflix, with a DVD player as well.

Once you have wandered through all of the gardens and taken a dip in the hot tub, you might think about venturing outside, if you can tear yourself away from this marvellous base.

The Trough Bowland is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is perfect for passionate walkers, offering beautiful landscapes and scenery to behold and excellent walking terrain.

The nearby villages of Longridge, Garstang, Whalley and Waddington offer a plethora of local shops and independent businesses as well as gastro pubs and tea rooms where you can enjoy some delicious food.

Return to the property later in the day and take a soak in the hot tub, or sit at the decking to gaze up at some of the darkest skies in England so you can spot the constellations.
