“Lovely property in quiet location – wonderful views and friendly neighbours.”

It was great to be able to leave the car and do walks straight from the door. Beds comfortable and cottage very clean. There is a nice tearoom at Fairfield Mill a short stroll away and we enjoyed reading about the history of the old textile mill. Well placed for visiting the delightful town of Sedbergh, the Lakes and the Dales. Thank you for a relaxing holiday.

Idyllically positioned for a rural escape to the countryside, 2 Farfield Row provides a lovely base for both families and friends alike. Entering the property, you will be greeted by an open-plan living/dining room, beautifully appointed with two sofas gathered around a traditional woodburning stove, offering a welcoming setting to curl up with your loved ones and enjoy some quality time together of an evening. There is a pull-out dining table available in the sociable space, where you can enjoy your lovingly prepared meals, cooked to perfection in the compact, but well-equipped kitchen resting to the rear. If you're lucky enough to experience the warmer weather, step out to the front enclosed lawned garden where you can enjoy a refreshing beverage and delight in those stunning country views surrounding, and even get some peace and quiet and escape into the pages of a captivating book. Stepping back indoors, climb the stairs to the first-floor where you'll find a king-size bedroom, alongside a family bathroom with an elegant bath and shower over, so you can enjoy a leisurely soak amongst the bubbles in the tub at the end of a tiring day, or a rejuvenating rinse in the morning, whilst the second-floor homes a twin bedroom. While you're in the area, travel towards the Farfield Mill, an organisation which provides a hub for creative purposes, holding events such as art exhibitions showcasing local works relating to the Lakes. The Howgill Fells provides an exceptional base for exploring the open countryside with ample walking and hiking opportunities for avid outdoor adventurers. Travel towards the bustling town of Kendal for a plethora of tourist attractions, including the 18th century Abbot Hall Art Gallery, housing 300 years' worth of British landscapes and artwork by local artist George Romney. Also nearby is the 12th century Kendal Castle, the Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry, as well as the Cumbria Wildlife Trust slightly further afield, offering more than 40 nature reserves and a abundance of wildlife to spot. Venture into Kirkby Lonsdale for more traditional pubs and restaurants and some fine food options, as well as independent shops and supermarkets for your amenities. 2 Farfield Row is a delightful choice for a countryside break to Cumbria.

About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), set at the foot of the dramatic and wild Howgill Fells, is an ancient market town in northern Dentdale. Sedbergh is situated just inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is only 12 miles from the Lake District National Park. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has an olde worlde atmosphere. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
