“It is a beautiful property in an ideal location couple of minutes walk to the town.”

Amazing kitchen with everything you could want.lovely lounge with comfortable furniture.the main bedroom upstairs with a bath was really good and comfortable.the smaller double bedroom found mattress very hard and uncomfortable and one of the blinds was damaged on one side so kept closed.the other bathroom shower head would not stay up and kept going cold all the time.

“This was our second visit to Lonsdale Cottage and it was as good as our first.”

Very comfortable, homely and well equipped. It’s in an ideal location in the centre of town and an added bonus is that it has its own parking space in front of the property. Having a second bedroom meant that our daughter and partner could visit us during our stay. We have booked this property again for seven days next September.

- Graham, September 2026
Robert June 2026

“Very comfortable & we'll appointed cottage in a place we greatly enjoy.”

Clearly a very thoughtful owner. This is one of the very best we have stayed in.

- Robert, June 2026
Christopher December 2025

“We have stayed here a few times now and love it more each time we do.”

The welcome pack is a lovely touch and the on site parking space is a massive bonus as we like to park for the week and not move, making the most of the local area. If I had one small alteration, it would be to have 2x single beds in the second bedroom that could be made into a double if required. As a family the two kids have to share a room here, and as they get older, sharing a bed becomes “un-cool” much means we won’t be bale to return much longer.

- Christopher, December 2025
Janice December 2025

“Spotlessly clean cottage.”

Beds very comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay. Will probably return. Flagstones outside cottage very slippy! We had to be careful. Don’t think you can do anything but maybe a warning to users would be helpful. When I got out of the car I slipped on the surface.

“This property was very special indeed.”

The photos don’t do it justice! Since Covid we have had many UK holidays and this property was one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. It was clean, very comfy and super cosy! It had everything we could have wished for and made for a very relaxing weeks holiday. Just a hop, skip and a jump down a gorgeous little lane and you were in the high street or a minutes walk and you were next to the river Lune. Yet the property was so quiet and once inside you felt that you were in the middle of nowhere! Amazing stay, we will be back.

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
