Bramble Cottage

I had a lovely stay in Bramble Cottage.

It was clean and well equipped. The owners do specify no dogs upstairs or on the furniture, this wasn't an issue with me as my dog will sleep wherever his bed is and at home he's never on the furniture or upstairs (his choice) they do provide a stairgate if required. Locally there is a Spar shop and a park close by. I had a phone call from Sykes midstay as the owners wanted them to let me know the Broadband was going to be off for a short time, which was nice of them, it didn't cause me any issues. All in all a lovely little cottage that I'd happily recommend.

A compact, warm cottage which we booked at short notice for a four day break.

It was too far for our little dog to walk into the centre of town and back but there was a nearby ginnel for walkies. A comfy bed and good Mira shower. A lobby with coat hooks and shoe rack was useful.

Cottage is comfortable, warm and has everything necessary, although kitchen a bit dated now and would benefit from an upgrade.

The bed and pillows were the most comfortable ever slept in. The stairs are quite steep and need some care when ascending or descending .The patio garden is useful if sunny. The front door lock can be a problem, doesn’t always operate smoothly

A good property in a really good location.

Ideally situated for walking the fells.Had problems with locking and unlocking door,there is obviously a knack but needs resolving.Overall no complaints at all but i do think that going forward the kitchen needs a re vamp.

We booked this cottage at the last moment and feel fortunate that it was available.

It suited our needs perfectly and the location proved to be ideal for our look around the Yorkshire Dales. The provisions in the cottage we comprehensive, even down to aluminium foil, a torch in case the power goes out and games if you are stuck in doors due to poor weather.

The Cottage was clean and very well equipped, it had everything we needed for our stay over Christmas.

The shower is barley adequate, it needs to be replaced with something that operates from the hot water system - it lets you down! The bed in the spare room is uncomfortable and if you sit on the edge the bed turns over- needs to be replaced.

We loved returning to this property.

We hadn’t stayed in December before and found the cottage warm and cosy – it was such a pleasure to return to after a day on the fells. The short access to the Howgill Fells is a wonderful bonus too. There is plenty of storage for a week’s food which is important to us when self catering and the cottage has everything you need during your stay. The whole cottage was clean and fresh and we appreciated the welcome treats too. We look forward to future visits to Bramble Cottage.

Lovely cottage, clean and tidy with parking space outside the front door.

The cottage had everything we needed for our stay, the bed was super comfy, and it was perfectly located. The supermarket was a short walk away as were the independent shops in the town. There were lots of lovely walks straight from the cottage without needing to use the car. It was clean and tidy throughout and had good wifi. We would definitely go again.

Awful.

As soon as we walked in it smelt of old fat and dogs. The kitchen was really greasy and we had to wash what crockery we needed. I would not have cooked in that kitchen, it was awful. Biscuits left were out of date. Sofas sagged and were really uncomfortable. Carpet needed a good clean. Outside light at the back not working. Banister was sticky as were the tables. When I got upstairs I narrowly missed the fire alarm hitting me on the head as it fell from the ceiling. Cobwebs everywhere. Bathroom smelt musty and damp. The only good this was the comfortable bed. Do not go!

We had a very enjoyable stay at Bramble Cottage.

Quiet location which suited us. Near to a shop and within walking distance of Sedbergh. The cottage was clean and very comfortable.

We loved this little cottage.

It was perfect for 2 people and in a great location for both the Dales and the Lakes. Bed was very comfy with great pillows. Central heating very efficient. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed for one week at Bramble Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and well appointed and was so comfortable and quiet. It was well located in the town of Sedbergh and was a perfect base to explore West Yorkshire and Cumbria.

We walked on The Howgill Fells direct from the door of this very comfortable, well equipped cottage which is in a quiet cul-de-sac, with private parking and is only a 5-10 minute stroll to the centre of Sedbergh, with a big Spar even closer!

Lovely little cottage and plenty enough space for my wife and I and our 14 year old daughter.

The parking space outside is bigger than it looks on the photos and there was plenty of room for our large family saloon. Our neighbours and the people of Sedbergh in general were really friendly. We live close to a railway, the A19 and the M62 - so we really noticed how peaceful it was at Bramble Cottage which is nicely tucked away, but has the convenience of a Spa shop literally at the end of the road and the main pubs and restaurants of Sedbergh barely a 5 minute walk away. We have only ever passed through Sedbergh on our way to the Lakes before now, but we really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon.

We knew from listing that it was going to be smaller than we are used to which didn't bother us at all. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a lovely stay. The bed was amazingly comfortable. Location was ideal for us to visit both Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. Would definitely recommend.

Small but very cosy.

The only drawback for us was the ned. Very supportive but just a little too soft. Apart from that - fine. The local Spar - 5 minutes walk was excellent too. Very friendly, apart from Matts Duo cafe. Poor service and a poor response to my Trip Advisor comment.

We had a lovely week in Bramble Cottage.

Clean, very comfortable and although quite small it was adequate and well equipped for a couple and a dog. Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac it was perfect for walking straight up on to the fells and only five minutes walk down in to the town. We'd definately come again.

Enjoyable stay.

Very well equipped kitchen. King size bed was really comfortable. The outside space was very peaceful and definitely a sun trap. Walking distance to the village was a bonus too. Will definitely return in the future.

I booked for my friends as they were coming to see me in Sedbergh, i have previously stayed at bramble cottage myself.

We absolutely loved our holiday at Bramble Cottage in Sedbergh.

The cottage had everything we needed, it felt like home from home, comfortable and the views of the Hills from our bedroom window was just amazing. This is the first time we came to Sedbergh and it definitely wont be the last, the area was beautiful, there is so many walks with, each unique, and the scenery was amazing which ever walk you decide to do. The one we liked best was the Pepperpot and the Akay Estate were you walk through the school grounds and you can still find the beautiful floor tiles from the Akay Estate in the ground, we did this walk three times, just to feel the history of the place. Sedbergh, although a very quaint town, it is beautiful with so much to it and the fish and chip shop "The Haddock Paddock" was one of the best. Highly Recommended and we will definitely be back, not just to the place itself but also Bramble Cottage. Thank you again. The Stones Family (Chesterfield)

The cottage is clean, comfortable and well situated for visiting Sedbergh and the surrounding area.

There were a couple of niggles that affected our enjoyment however. First, the kitchen is tiny, maybe two by two metres, and is more properly described as a kitchenette (which was not apparent from the description or photos provided). The lack of space made cooking difficult and unenjoyable. Secondly, the stairgate fitted across the entrance to the kitchen is in the way and presents a trip hazard- we found ourselves stubbing toes and banging knees during our stay. The purpose of the stairgate is apparently to allow visitors with dogs to confine their animal to the kitchen while out. In reality though the size of this property and modest outside space makes it unsuitable for anyone with a dog.

It was in a perfect location, in a very quiet cul de sac, it was so peaceful, especially at night.

It was exactly as described, very clean and comfortable.

We stayed at this cottage in September 2020, so on this second visit we knew what we could rely upon it however bad the covid restrictions might become, and this part of Cumbria is not as crowded as the Lake District parts are likely to be.

Indeed, all of the walks we took were not crowded. Excellent features We were very happy to be positioned so close to the fells that it was possible to walk straight to them. Similarly the town is only a short distance away, and can be easily walked to. The cottage is in a nice residential area, and this made us feel secure. Slight annoyances with: The hot water tap in the kitchen has extreme hysteresis, meaning that it would not issue any hot water until it was turned on more than would be expected, then suddenly responds with a bump, and issues too much hot water. Then it has to be turned down quickly to stop this high flow. This was wasteful of hot water ! It was exactly like this in September 2020, and I did report it in my subsequent feedback. The extractor fan in the bathroom was quite noisy.

An ideal compact holiday home in a nice setting with lovely view of Winder fell from the windows.

The outdoor space is really nice but a bit chilly at this time of year. Sedbergh is a very peaceful area with lovely views in all directions and plenty of walks for all abilities.

Sedbergh is an ideal location for visits to the lakes and dales.

not really, the cottage was well furnished, the wifi was excellent, the parking was excellent, the cottage was located just as we expected for three people to have a very good walking holiday based in a pleasant town

A comfy, cosy cottage with everything we needed for our stay.

It was a nice touch to find that tea and coffee had been provided. There was also a pint of milk in the fridge- really appreciated. The cottage is an easy walk into the town of Sedbergh and only a couple of miniutes from the Spar shop. The area is really quiet and the views from the front of the cottage to the Fells are lovely.

Lovely and quiet even though the house is surrounded by other properties, but only 5 minutes walk to town centre, lovely view of the fells to the front, comfy bed and sofas.

Bramble Cottage is in a lovely, quiet town convenient to The Lakes and The Dales.

The cottage’s kitchen is well equipped. I don’t mind washing dishes by hand when I can enjoy the spectacular view from the kitchen window. The patio certainly looked tempting, however, the weather didn’t cooperate. The bathroom has a power shower with good pressure. The only note I would make about the cottage for North Americans is the king bed is the equivalent of a queen bed back home.

Bramble Cottage is a cosy, comfortable and welcoming little house in a small, very quiet, residential area on the out skirts of Sedbergh.

Great for touring Cumbria or the Lakes. The cottage was spotless and warm with lovely views of the fells from the front. The vase of daffodils was a very welcoming touch and made us smile. Just a shame the weather wasn't good enough to enjoy the little courtyard garden.

Unusually this cottage was rented as our temporary base as we were moving into a house in Sedbergh which wasn't quite ready for us.

Although compact it was excellent, very well equipped, well presented and clearly well maintained. Although our visit was not for a holiday we believe it would be a great place for those wanting a week exploring the Dales and Lakes.
