“What can I say, this was our second visit to Domvs and it didn't disappoint!”

There were a few extras, like the air fryer, which we put to good use. The lounge area is great for family and friends get togethers. Domvs is in a great location for exploring the lakes, with an excellent bus service close by. Once again a fabulous stay for all the family, we hope to be booking again for next year!

The property

This magnificent period residence is a castle in its own right and proudly exhibits the original tower, now a magical bedroom, with panoramic and simply breathtaking views, arguably the best from anywhere in The Lake District and probably the British Isles. Aptly named this sumptuous place literally has it all and translated the Latin meaning 'LARGE HOUSE', we think this sums it up to a tee! For a holiday with 'wow factor' - this is a special place and one to spend your precious time together soaking up Lakeland's luxuries. Step inside and take pleasure in the outstanding features echoed throughout, ancient England blends effortlessly with 21st century life but the views remain exactly the same - climb to the magical tower room, here you are higher than the tallest of trees and birds fly way below you, but take a breath as this view is simply to die for! Leave aside the 'million dollar views' for a moment and wander into the beautiful garden with terrace. Whether you are celebrating a happy event or just spending time with your favourite people, Domvs is a grand statement property delivering comfort and matching your high expectations. Enjoy the luxury chic bathrooms, sleek yet grand bedrooms all en-suite, 21st century kitchen, a dining room fit for any formal gathering and a drawing room complete with warming open fire, opening into a sun room / conservatory, all wrapped up in sophisticated technology, are but a few things to mention. The area has everything you could wish for and bustling Windermere will tempt you out to sample excellent restaurants and cuisine. == Accommodation in detail Entrance porch and a first sight into this captivating residence; spacious hall showing off the magnificent staircase and with original oak flooring spreading throughout most of the ground floor only interrupted by sumptuous rugs. Ground-floor cloakroom with 7th WC/washbasin. The drawing room has a splayed bay window commanding spectacular views; this room is for total relaxation furnished with large comfy sofas, just what you need at the end of a busy day of exploring, opening into a conservatory. The dining room is perfect with a large rustic dining table and original oak paneling perfect for family gatherings with great food, even better wine and conversation late into the night. The kitchen literally has it all, including separate utility; even 'Nigella' would feel at home in here. The original staircase ascends to the first floor, where from the Master Bedroom the views over the lake unfold further. This bedroom suite is homage to Victorian life with Antique furniture including a super king sized four poster bed mixing effortlessly with a contemporary finish; the en-suite is luxurious with designer bath and power shower. The room includes a large sofa for you to relax in and watch the beautiful sunset over Lake Windermere. Also located on the first floor is a separate suite with a further king size four-poster bed and en-suite including a separate shower cubicle and roll top bath. Across the hall is a twin bedroom with en-suite power shower room. Upstairs again to a further twin bedroom complete with luxury power shower en-suite. A sumptuous king size bedroom suite sits on the 2nd floor, complete with luxury bathroom housing designer bath and power shower. And finally, you enter the Tower Room complete with slipper bath and separate en-suite power shower room; from here head upwards to the original observatory. What a room and we think the picture shows this off better than words...there is going to be some debate over who gets this room! The shared gardens are delightful with superb views from the terrace inviting guests to enjoy al-fresco living or maybe for just a glass or two in the evening sunshine. Location This unique self-catering property offers easy access to the lake shore, and also the popular villages of Windermere and Bowness. Windermere village centre is just a five minute walk away, ideal for stocking up the kitchen; there you'll find a large Booths supermarket well stocked with the best local produce as well as everyday essentials. The High Street has a traditional butcher, several restaurants and cafes together with pubs serving real Lakeland ale. Bowness village is a busier tourist destination, just a couple of miles away. The village revolves around the boating activity of Bowness Bay, where hire boats come and go and Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside - explore without a car! Windermere Golf Club is located just outside Bowness. You'll also enjoy easy access by car or bus to other popular Lake District holiday destinations, such as Hawkshead (via the car ferry across Lake Windermere from Bowness), the Troutbeck Valley, Ullswater, Ambleside and Grasmere.

Please note: This period property is split level over 3 floors, with steps into some bedrooms. The twin rooms are more cosy than the king bedrooms and are located at the rear of the property, roadside. All bedrooms have secondry glazing for customer comfort.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
