This quirky and contemporary, newly refurbished, Lakeland cottage occupies a convenient yet peaceful elevated setting just a few minute’s stroll above the lively heart of Ambleside, with beautiful views to the array of surrounding mountains.
Aptly named after the Cumbrian number seven, Lettera is a short way up the well-known 'Struggle', a great walk before dinner; we should simply rely on what our visitors say ''Wow! What a fantastic cottage'' is not a bad start. ''It's quiet, warm and toasty'' - sounds inviting and ''I shall miss opening the curtains in my top bedroom to the wonderful views and my very own dressing room'' - all begin to paint the picture, hope you agree.
This sophisticated cottage offers a true escape for both couples and friends alike, spending precious time together to unwind and relax in first class accommodation, delivering traditional cottage luxury and quality throughout, it offers a great peaceful yet central location, with walks of all grades and almost direct access to the Lakeland Fells from the door. Lettera Cottage nestles in a row of similar Lake District cottages, tucked away just off 'The Struggle' leading to Kirkstone Pass, above the village of Ambleside. A holiday cottage in Ambleside provides an excellent starting point for a varied Lake District holiday. Easily accessible on the northern shores of Lake Windermere, Ambleside is a contemporary, characterful Lakeland village with a spectacular backdrop of Lake District fells. The location is ideal for walking in the Lake District, with many renowned routes beginning in and around the village. But Ambleside is also a popular choice for a relaxed, slow-paced holiday. Contemporary shops, leisurely lake cruises, acclaimed Lake District restaurants and cosy traditional pubs make the village centre a delight at any time of year.
For evening entertainment, you'll find plenty to suit every taste. Try the popular Fulling Mill restaurant, in a superbly converted saw mill, for a special evening out. Or, take your pick from the two quirky cinemas; Zeffirellis cinema includes a great pizzeria and live jazz bar. Fellinis has an excellent vegetarian restaurant and shows films in a relaxed studio cinema environment. You'll also find a wide range of pubs, serving hearty food and real Lakeland ale - notable for its lake shore setting is the Wateredge Inn. Windermere Lake Cruises depart from Waterhead Pier, just outside Ambleside village centre. The elegant 'steamers' offer regular trips to Bowness and Lakeside - a great way to explore without driving. Evening cruises are also available, sometimes with buffet meals and live music.
