There is a satisfying crunch of the gravel under your wheels as you pull into the drive way of Lexington House. Stepping through the front door way, kick of your boots and hang up your coat as this cool, contemporary house welcomes you. The light and airy lounge, with beautiful parquet floor, cosy log burning stove and sumptuous sofas and armchairs, if just the place to relax with family and friends and the bespoke slate topped dining table set into the bay window adds a very modern twist.
The cool, calm, kitchen sits right at the heart of the home, with its high quality white gloss units, integrated appliances and breakfast bar. The first class inventory is complemented by an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer/drier.
The social space continues as you step outside the back door into the feature courtyard with outdoor sofa and chairs where, on longer days it is lovely to relax in front of the feature outdoor fireplace, with drinks and fizz!
A choice of three boutique luxury bedrooms leave guest spoilt for choice – all are beautifully furnished with luxurious beds and ensuite facilities and they are the most welcoming retreat at the end of the day. The ground floor is a stylish king, complemented by a smart ensuite shower room The two first floor bedrooms are a king and a superking; one with ensuite shower room and the other with a corner bath. Lexington House sits in the main lakeside town of Bowness on Windermere. Convenient for local amenities and access to the fantastic cruising grounds of Lake Windermere as well as the surrounding National Park by foot or car. On the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, Bowness is a sophisticated Lakeland village with a wealth to explore and enjoy. Stroll to the lake shore in Bowness to hire a row boat or power boat, or take an elegant cruise on one of the Lake Windermere steamers. Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside; a wonderful way to explore without even using your car.
There are several excellent restaurants in Bowness village, also close by are many Michelin star for stylish dining, while the Porthole and Bodegas & Sol puts a contemporary twist on the tapas style. There are also plenty of traditional Lakeland pubs, both in the village centre and the surrounding countryside. Or better still within the Windermere Marina, less than a mile away, is The Boathouse Bar & Restaurant. Eating out in Cumbria has never been better, and now there is a gem on our door step! Enjoy one of the two fantastic south facing terraces on those lazy summer days, spend a few hours in the bar or book a table in the first floor restaurant for something a little more special or of course enjoy the comfort of your own accommodation back at your very own lakeside boathouse.
Windermere Golf Club is just outside Bowness village, on the way to the Lyth Valley. This area is also renowned for gentle but very scenic walking, with a wealth of acclaimed Lake District country pubs to choose from at the end of the day.
Close to the village, you'll find Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts House. This impressive property takes a stunning position overlooking Lake Windermere, and has a range of interesting exhibitions.
Join the A591 to Ambleside and Grasmere, and you can explore the homes of famous Lake District poet, William Wordsworth.
Another great idea is to take the car-ferry crossing, just a couple of hundred yards from your doorstep, over Lake Windermere from Bowness, to visit the former home of Beatrix Potter in Near Sawrey, and the picturesque village of Hawkshead.
