Pets are welcome in this charming little retreat, full of traditional character yet lovingly restored to provide comfort and calm - away from the rush, relaxed and welcoming after a day on foot or on the fells. You'll find a contemporary dining kitchen for sociable meals and a cosy lounge with open fire. The double bedrooms are both a treat; one with inspiring mountain views and one with a pretty dressing room - complete with an extra children's bed.
Accommodation in detail
Private parking for 1 car. Enter to the cosy lounge with magnificent views and a warming open fire. The modern kitchen / dining room is well-equipped for daily meals, with a door leading outside and providing direct access to the fell behind. The wet room room is also on this level. Up some narrow stairs to the two double bedrooms; one has particularly fine views over the valley and the other is complete with a dressing room, which has an extra bed suitable for a child. Outside you'll find a shared outside area, perfect for morning coffee or sunset drinks.
Location
Chapel Stile is a small village in the picturesque Langdale Valley, just 4 miles from Ambleside yet immersed in peaceful, untouched landscapes. You'll find a wealth of walking routes for all abilities in every direction. From leisurely strolls to Elterwater tarn, to challenging routes on the famous Langdale Pikes. From your Chapel Stile holiday cottage, a pleasant first outing takes you down the peaceful road running into the Langdale Valley, arriving at the 'Old Dungeon Ghyll' walkers' bar. There you'll find the perfect place to soak up the remote and unspoilt scenery for the first time.
Ambleside is just 4 miles away, and the ideal place to stop off and stock up the kitchen on your way. The vibrant village centre is also well worth a few day visits; lazing in cafes, visiting historic sites such as the roman fort, or strolling to the shores of Lake Windermere to take a lake cruise to Bowness or Lakeside. Ambleside tourist information centre is a useful port of call for walking routes, and there are plenty of expert outdoor stores where advice will be on hand.
You'll find a plethora of excellent Lake District country pubs in the Langdale Valley, serving locally brewed ale and hearty food. If you're looking for a special evening out, sample the Glass House in Ambleside or seek out the famous Drunken Duck Inn and Restaurant in Outgate.
