    “'Far Nook' was far beyond our expectations.”

    The rooms were cosy but luxurious. All fittings were of very high quality and tasteful. I didn't want to leave. The layout of the house was spacious and practical.

Far Nook is a beautifully presented, traditional, stone built Lakeland house set in attractive gardens, within convenient and level walking distance of Ambleside village and with ample parking for a number of cars. Beautifully finished to a very high standard the property offers high quality accommodation in the heart of the Lake District. With four bedrooms and bathrooms, the house is ideally suited to special occasions, social gatherings and family holidays. Gather socially in front of the cosy log burning stove in the elegant lounge, enjoy a drink in the beautiful gardens or relax in the TV lounge. The house retains many of the original features from cornicing, parquet floors, a beautiful staircase and Arts and Crafts fireplaces.The bustling village of Ambleside is just a five minute walk away and offers a great selection of local bars, restaurants and cafes along with a great range of local shops many selling local produce. Returning to Far Nook you will find a well-appointed kitchen that is the perfect place to prepare everything from a great Lakeland breakfast to a fantastic dinner to share with family or friends. Situated in the heart of the Lake District there are a myriad walks from the door, follow in the footsteps of William Wordsworth and enjoy an afternoon stroll to Grasmere, the more adventurous might head out onto Fairfield Horseshoe a favourite of many a Lakeland Fell walker and if you believe a little effort deserves a reward why not watch sunset from the top of the nearby Loughrigg Fell! == Accommodation in detail Enter Far Nook from the driveway and the hall way leads to a cosy TV lounge, with a beautiful fire place with living flame stove, an elegant lounge ideal for every occasion, with a large bay window with views to the garden and a log burning stove. The kitchen is well appointed with plenty of work surfaces and storage. The range cooker offers five gas hobs and double electric oven and is the ideal place to prepare everything from a hearty breakfast to Christmas Dinner! The dining table has views out to Loughrigg through bi-fold doors and a picture window facing Wansfell. The large ground floor king size bedroom offers a welcoming retreat at the end of the day and it is complemented with an ensuite shower room, including walk in rainfall shower. The property is bright and airy throughout but this is especially so in the generous south facing sunroom which is the ideal spot to enjoy a good book or the weekend newspapers. There is an additional guest toilet on the ground floor. Heading upstairs there are a further three bedrooms. The dual aspect king size master bedroom has an ensuite shower room and a twin bedroom, with views to the garden, has an ensuite bathroom. Finally, there is a comfortable double bedroom and adjacent family bathroom with rainfall shower over the bath. All bedrooms have a TV with built in DVD player.The gardens wrap around the south corner of the property and mature planting provides privacy. With lawns, herbaceous borders, shrubs, trees, a small pond with a water feature this really is a beautiful place to sit and relax or to enjoy a BBQ on a summer's evening. Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
