Short Breaks in Dog Friendly Cottages in the Lake District

Here at Lakelovers we welcome our canine guests for free in cottages that are dog friendly. Just look out for the paw symbol when browsing our award-winning accommodation.

The Lake District is one of the most dog friendly places in the UK and so makes for an ideal short break with pets.

For dogs of all temperaments, from sociable pups to more nervous breeds, there is a holiday for all in the Lakes.

Our dog friendly short break accommodation are especially fitted for a relaxed mini-break with your four-legged family member. From dog bowls and walking leads to muddy boot rooms and easy-clean floors, our dog friendly self-catering accommodation in the Lake District is easy and comfortable.

To get tails wagging, we like to treat our furry guests with some comforting extras such as heated floors, open fires and log burners. We even have an outdoor dog shower in one of our pooch friendly holiday cottages!

So that patch can enjoy his creature comforts too, our cottages are gorgeously furnished with all that you’d expect from a home-from-home. They also have lots of space so pooch can find his favourite spot in the house for his bed. Will ‘Princess’ settle in front of the TV, by your legs next to a cracking open fire? Or under the breakfast table with the radio on or by your feet as you enjoy a home cooked meal? We have lots of snuggly nooks in our cottages and we’re sure your cherished pooch will find a place to curl up and relax after a day enjoying lots of exercise on the Lake District fells.

As you enjoy cooking in a state-of-the-art kitchen, doggy can get out from under your feet and enjoy the exciting new scents and sounds within your private, gardens.

For more exercise, we have cottages with walks straight from your cottage door. So those that don’t like travelling can enjoy more time enjoying walkies. With 16 lakes in the Lake District and many more tarns and rivers there’s lots of safe places for pooch to enjoy a splash about too. Fetch is also a firm favourite, and what better than the 24.47 km² of car-free trails in Grizedale Forest, east of Coniston Water.

Following your nose on a dog friendly short break, you’ll more than likely end up in a dog friendly pub like The Britannia Inn in the Langdales or The Drunken Duck, just outside Ambleside. In Keswick – Kennel Club’s ‘Most Dog Friendly Town’ three-time award winner – there are water bowls and doggy treats in most shops, pubs and cafes.

Our guests with dogs find self-catering a particularly easy way to holiday, as you can let pooch set the schedule. Late evening walkies or an early morning breakie, self-catering gives you flexibility.
