Location
Ambleside is a popular destination for Lake District holidays and for good reason - it has beautiful countryside to explore but is also a very vibrant and pretty town filled with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. So whatever you want to do during your breakaway, you'll be able to do it here.
The historic Lakeland village sit on the picturesque northern shores of lake Windermere, which commands beautiful views and, equally, the little streets don't disappoint either being scattered with traditional Lake District cottages and historic buildings. And, with a stay at Cross Brow House, you will only be a few minute's stroll from the centre of Ambleside and all it has to offer from entertainment to top-class eateries - and the lovely shoreline.
From Cross Brow House, you can wander down to Waterhead Pier, just outside the village centre, where you can board a boat with Windermere Lake Cruises to explore Bowness or Lakeside. It's a great way to enjoy the Lake District vistas without having to negotiate any traffic.
And Ambleside also has some great attraction, such as the Armitt museum, where you can look back into the industrial history of the area; and for literary lovers you are close by to visit one of William Wordsworth's family homes at Rydal Mount & Gardens. So, if you want your holiday to be a good mix of peaceful and sightseeing for a perfect getaway, then Cross Brow House in Ambleside is the perfect choice.
