Just a few minutes stroll from the village centre you'll find Waterhead Pier, with a few excellent lake shore eateries and steamer ferry departures to Bowness and Lakeside. A great way to explore the full length of the lake without using your car.
Ambleside historic attractions include the famously tiny 'Bridge House' (one of the Lake District's most photographed buildings), the Roman Fort Galava and also one of William Wordsworth's former family homes at Rydal Mount & Gardens.
