“Lovely comfortable cottage.”

Welcome tray was a nice touch. Being able to park right outside was a welcome bonus. The heating was very good, kept the cottage toasty warm the whole time so we didn’t need to light the fire that was all beautifully laid out ready. ...

Welcome tray was a nice touch. Being able to park right outside was a welcome bonus. The heating was very good, kept the cottage toasty warm the whole time so we didn’t need to light the fire that was all beautifully laid out ready. Just a few minor issues - Would appreciate bath sheets rather than bath towels A chair or extra shelf in the bathroom would be nice New pillows are needed The garden needs tidying In addition to the two sofas, an armchair in the living room would add to the comfort of four people Please understand the above comments are just feedback and not complaints. Over all we loved the cottage xx

It had lovely little garden space to sit out on. It was close to town centre. The little extras that were left were an added bonus.

Location Ambleside's friendly character, comfy cafes, fantastic restaurants and traditional pubs combine with a great location from which to explore the rest of the Lakes. From Waterhead Pier in Ambleside, the Windermere Lake Cruisers take you the full length of the lake, with stops at Bowness and Lakeside. The A591 connects Ambleside village with Grasmere and Keswick to the north, Windermere and Bowness to the south, and journeys west to the delights of Hawkshead and Coniston are just as easy.Walks abound in the area, and Ambleside is a great place to start with excellent outdoor equipment shops offering advice and inspiration.

AMBLESIDE

Windermere 4 miles; Grasmere 4 mile; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
