Lakelovers Langdale short breaks are ideally located for long walking weekends and mid-week getaways.

The dramatic scenery of the Langdale Pikes and crystal clear rivers and waterfalls is one of the most relaxing in the UK. A few days spent here in a dreamy luxury holiday cottage and you’ll feel rejuvenated.

Lakelovers have some of the very best self-catering accommodation. Many with availability for short breaks of 3 or 4 nights, depending on your holiday dates.

Highlights not to be missed when staying in Langdale include the delightful hamlet of Elterwater. There’s a wonderful walk from here to Skelwith Bridge, where you can take in the full force of the famous Skelwith waterfall. The Britannia Inn in Elterwater is a great dog friendly pub and ideal for a pub lunch.

For some local sightseeing, get below ground at Cathedral Caverns to experience the drama of the Langdale landscape up close. The disused slate works around Little Langdale are interesting for all ages to walk amongst. Plus there are great picnic and paddling spots at the famous Slaters Bridge.

Perhaps you’re looking for a low-key break, enjoying cooking in your own holiday cottage retreat and relaxing in privacy, taking in some of the most tranquil and sublime scenery in the UK. Call us on 015394 88855 or email [email protected] to discuss your short break holiday plans and we look forward to helping.

Langdales

For more challenging walking and climbing, head up Stickle Ghyll where you can stop at Stickle Tarn or take on the infamous Pavey Ark scramble.

For those with a head for heights, you can sometimes see divers or climbers at Hodge Close Quarry. It is also a good walking spot – but just be careful with dogs and small children here.

The Langdale Boulders at Chapel Stile are a great introduction to the agility testing sport that was born in the Lake District. Alternatively, take in a pint at the climber’s pub, the Old Dungeon Ghyll which occupies a sublime location at the head of the valley.

Cycling is another popular Langdale holiday activity and is a great way to take in lots of sights and scenery on a flying visit. Here you can take on one of Britain’s toughest cycle climbs, the 30% incline of Wrynose Pass!
