We know that pets are not for everybody and perhaps you’d like to book a pet-free holiday cottage. Or maybe you’re looking at leaving the chore of daily dog walks and the constant battle for attention at home to enjoy some me-time with a pet-free holiday. This is why we’ve brought together this collection of pet-free cottages.

Whilst we can not guarantee allergy-free cottages, despite our rigorous cleaning standards, this collection of cottages do not accept dogs and so sniffles and sneezes will be kept to a minimum. Instead, it will be the sublime views and stylish decor which will be making you tickle with excitement.

Whilst the Lake District is a very dog-friendly holiday, there are many benefits to considering a dog-free break.

If you are a pet owner, a break from poop picking up and plodding walks, sniffing every rock and tree stump, is appealing. Enjoy a leisurely walk around the boutique Bowness shops or a farmer’s market at your own pace.

A pet-free holiday can also be the perfect chance to take on those big walking challenges that little legs could perhaps not manage – Scafell or Helvellyn?

The Lake District is idyllic in spring but the bouncy new Herdwick lambs can be a distraction when walking with dogs so a pet-free holiday is a great time to watch the countryside wake from winter slumber.

Fishing and golf are popular Lake District activities, and can be best enjoyed without demanding furry family members! Have you seen our blog post on the best golf courses in the Lake District?

Treating your party to a lavish meal where pets are perhaps not catered for is also another major plus of choosing a pet-free holiday. The Lake District is home to a glittering array of Michelin star restaurants, so why not treat a loved one.

Haweswater Valley is one of the most beautiful, secluded corners of the Lake District but it is a protected wildlife area and visiting pet-free you may be treated with a rare sighting of red squirrels, peregrines and red deer, depending on how quiet you are.

Whilst many of the Lake District’s top attractions are dog-friendly, if you have a bouncy pet or one that is not very sociable perhaps you’d like to leave pooch at home and enjoy a relaxing visit to some of the Lake District’s highlights, like the Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth houses and museums.

Browse our range of dog-free holiday cottages in the Lake District and enjoy some me-time away from pet duties.
