“We found that Bottle Tops was in a very convenient location.”

It was really well appointed with very comfortable beds and sofas and lots of thoughtful touches, such as a night light in the bathroom and prosecco flutes.

    - Mrs Dixon,

The property

Tucked away from the everyday hustle and bustle of Windermere village centre and yet just a few minutes’ walk from all the village amenities, Bottle Tops is a contemporary Lakeland cottage which has been refurbished to offer high quality accommodation in an excellent location. Originally Swainson’s Bottling Store (1854) this was where the local spring water and other refreshments such as the famous Swainson’s Ginger Beer were bottled. The name, ‘Bottle Tops’ keeps this memory alive: evidence of the original features can still be found inside. The name reflects the nickname given by the workmen during the refurbishment due to the dozens of bottle tops that they found in every nook and cranny of this historic building. With rest and relaxation as a priority, the owners have created a stylish retreat, for couples, family or friends to enjoy at any time of year. The cottage is presented with a welcoming, open plan, living room and a quality kitchen. On the first floor there is a choice of two superb bedrooms which are complemented by a luxurious ensuite bathroom and a family shower room. All you could need for your holiday is on your doorstep. Booths’ supermarket, Lakeland's flagship store, Windermere railway station, bus hub and Tourist Information along with local shops and bars are all less than 5 minutes’ walk away. The rest of the Lake District couldn't be easier to explore with that all-important private parking space available for your convenience. ==Accommodation in detail The front door opens into an entrance hall leading to a welcoming living room with comfortable leather sofas arranged around the fireplace with living flame gas fire and Smart HD TV. The large family dining table is ideal for social dinners with friends and family or to plan your day in the Lakes over breakfast. The fitted kitchen is well equipped with electric hob and oven, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine and tumble drier. Choose from one of two beautiful bedrooms. The first is presented with a large king-size bed and is complemented by a luxurious ensuite bathroom with feature bath, walk in shower, basin and WC. The second bedroom can be presented either as a super king size double or a twin-bedded room (please specify your choice when booking). Off the landing there is a smart family shower room with power shower, basin and WC. One parking space is available in the car port (the old loading bay in the days of Swainson’s Bottling Store) and a resident’s on street car parking permit is also provided for guests with a second car. Location This superb Windermere holiday home is located just out of the heart of Windermere and is under a 5 minute walk from the village centre with its local shops, cafes, restaurants and bars and is also within easy reach of Bowness-on-Windermere the popular Lake District holiday location, nestling on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere and alive with all the boating activities of Bowness Bay. Enjoy sophisticated shops, tempting cafes, excellent Lake District restaurants and cosy traditional pubs, or stroll to the pier to hop on a Windermere Lake Cruise to Ambleside or Lakeside - a lovely way to explore without even using your car. Couples, families or groups of friends will find plenty of evening venues to explore and families can take their pick from a range of attractions in Bowness; mini golf on the Glebe, the famous World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, the Royalty Cinema and the Old Laundry Theatre. Enjoying the wider Lake District is simple and easy with a self-catering property in Windermere as your starting point. The famously scenic A591 leads from the nearby Windermere village to Ambleside, Rydal Water and historic Grasmere. It's a breeze to branch off and explore Ullswater, via the dramatic Kirkstone Pass, or Langdale, Hawkshead and Coniston Water.
